Colorado University bans guns.... Nerf Guns

Not to be outdone by CSU banning concealed carry last week, CU took the next logical step, and banned nerf guns.

The devils in the details.   I've searched the UC site and couldn't find the exact policy so here's the questions:

Are only "NERF" brand prohibited?
Or does it include all Hasbro (parent corp of Nerf) toys?
What about Mattel?
What about air soft "devices"
What about rubber band guns?

I suspect that the policy is rather broad and, at  police description, can include any device capable of launching a projectile.  Is there an exemption for the Art department for staple guns?

Here's a link to the UC police page of pictures of real verses Nerf guns.   I'd like to do one with pictures of various "good/bad guys" and ask if you could tell which is which based on outside appearance.

 I actually read the article and have to admit there is a somewhat valid reason behind it in that about 600 students are engaged in a war game and the school probably has concerns about getting sued if some "innocent bystander" gets bonked with a Nerf slug. But like Rahm and his "never let a crisis go to waste", we should never miss an opportunity to decry the pacification of our society.

I saw this the other day...... It really amuses me that Nerf guns look like anything but an actual firearm. Banning the game that they are playing, or saying they can only play in a designated area (like an athletic field) is one thing, but once again these idiots are blaming the inanimate objects.

I dunno.  The nerf guns pictured in eric's post make it seem like a joke.  Some of the ones in the link the alfsauve posted are different.  If some dopey college kid done up in his Ninja outfit pointed one of those (like item "I") at me in the wrong situation I'd probably spend the rest of my life in prison.

Isn't there some regulation that realistic looking toys are suppose to have an orange muzzle ala airsoft?

I think some of those in the link must be airsoft guns.... some of the Nerf guns in the link are similar to the blue one I posted or other Nurf guns that I've seen, but it looks like they were painted. If that is the case, the responsibility for getting accidentally shot lies with the idiot who modified it to look like a more realistic threat -- this all goes back to Govt thinking that we are all too dumb to think for ourselves.

All of the OEM Nerf guns are outlandish and over the top.... not to mention blinged out with bold paint jobs.
