Quote
NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. A South Carolina city is buying guns back with no questions asked in an effort to get the weapons off its streets.

The North Charleston Police Department held its second annual gun buy back Saturday, collecting 99 handguns and assault weapons and 28 shotguns and rifles.

North Charleston residents who turned in a hand gun or an assault weapon got a $100 card. A $50 gift card was offered for shotguns and rifles.

Weapons had to be in working order and those turning in the guns must be at least 18.

Last year, 245 weapons were turned in during the effort.

I so should have bought a bunch of  no name POS 25 autos when they were $50 each.  I could have made a killing.

TAB just came up with a great idea.

Go out and buy all the junk handguns you can, working or not, at $25 to $50 each and then sell them at the gun buy backs for $100 each!

Better money than CDs or stock right now.

Woo-Hoo!  Go TAB!

I bought a Phoenix Raven for $39 in the 90's. I'm watching for the right buy-back program.

Isn't that the point of the post's title having "successful" in quotes. There aint nobody turning in any guns that they want, or still want to use for crime! It's just a great way to get rid of a POS or gun with a trail. Los Angeles Sheriff's Dept. just had one of these that they touted as "successful". They showed grocery carts of guns on the news that to any of us showed carts with a lot of guns that were crap or were only parts of guns - really antique, outdated, broken guns. They showed little clips of donors saying how it was so great to get more guns off the street. It was pretty obvious that most of them were no longer any good for the street. No matter how many guns are turned in at one of these buy-backs, are they really "successful", or really accomplishing anything?

Thats the trick.... but I never hear of these buy backs until after the fact.... If I knew that they would be once a year and I knew of them ahead of time..... I would be able to fund more new gun purchases!

Just maybe, having the means to protect your family is worth more than 100 bucks, even if all you got is your "Grampa's" ol' beat up 38.

Remember BHO is the greatest gun sales POTUS, ever. Times are so tight, even the BG's are robbing from the poor...Which covers gun buy back campaigns.

They are usually not held in the upscale suburbs,...
Thomas Jefferson: The strongest reason for the people to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against the tyranny of government. That is why our masters in Washington are so anxious to disarm us. They are not afraid of criminals. They are afraid of a populace which cannot be subdued by tyrants."
Col. Jeff Cooper.

I have a old 16 ga that is not safe to shoot(damascus )  I bought it for its "art" value.  I figured It would be a wall hanger or I would turn it into a lamp or something.  Next they have a buy back that is offering a $100 or more in cash/ gift card I can use.  I would think very hard about selling it back to them.  The private party transfer cost me twice what I paid for the gun.
