Good Books On The AK-47?
« on: December 15, 2009, 02:04:34 PM »
Does anyone have any they can recommend? There is one out there, (I can't remember the author), that is supposed to be very good. Any recommendations would be appreciated. I'm going to have some time off around Christmas, and would like to catch up on some reading, (along with shooting), on the AK-47. I am finding this rifle to be more and more intriguing  Bill T.

I have never had interest in the ak-47. I felt it was un-patriotic. the enemy's rifle. But now that my collection has grown, i'm taking a closer look at this rifle. it is tuff to ignore. I know very little about who makes them, whats good, and fair prices for them. I always thought they were a dime a dozen, but im seeing them $800-1000 or so. seems alittle spendy. maybe obamas fault, but if im gonna spend that much i want agood one. any input is appreciated 8)

Bucktracker,

Those are my sentiments exactly. I used to hate the AK-47, now I simply cannot get enough of Kalashnikov's design. I now have 9 of them, and I only feel as though I have only gotten started. The rifle speaks of good quality, as well as design. I have long dismissed this nonsense as, "The enemies rifle". I just ordered 5 books from Midway on the weapon I'm looking forward to reading over the Christmas season. It is to say the least, one of the worlds more interesting weapons.   Bill T.

I have not read it, but was thinking about buying this one when I have a few extra bucks.

Kalashnikov Rifle Gunfighting by Gabrial Suarez

I think Suarez International does alot of AK specific training.  They also have some AK specific dvd's.

I found this link on You Tube by Gabrial Suarez. A lot of good information. There are others with the same title. The audio doesn't appear to be timed properly with the video.  Bill T.

web sites aside, the best thing I've pesonally seen in print has been Guns & Ammo's recent special AK edition.  Great magazine.  The web sites will give you any and all information you may ever dream to ask for though.  I could email you a ton of manuals...

I wish I would have grabbed it. It isn't available at the news stand anymore. If you have a link where I could order it, it would be greatly appreciated.  Bill T.
