Correct me if I'm wrong here, but didn't Heller state that common use firearms could not be banned?  :-\

in a nut shell what heller said was you can have a gun in the home at the ready for use in Self defense.  Thats pretty much it.

it did not get into details about what kind of gun.
I always break all the clay pigeons,  some times its even with lead.

But, why then hasn't MA lifted the practice of locking a firearm when the license holder is not in direct control?  Because no one here listens or cares about what the SCOTUS says or doesn't say...

They are making it up as they go!

My wife is fully capable of defending herself, even if I'm not home.....my home is my business, the state legislature can kiss my big Irish Butt!

It's funny.....

Assachusetts' "assault weapons ban" doesn't ban the rifle.

They ban the flash hider, bayonet mount, collapsible stock and magazines that hold more than 10 rounds.  Last I checked, it was the rifle that actually fired the projectile not the rest of that garbage.

Again, we don't have it so bad as some......

That's similar to California. We have ways around the law too and there are so many black rifles in California at this point, that they'll never be able to completely get rid of them.

There are half dozen, or more, firearms makers in Assachusetts including S&W, the largest gun maker in the United States.  I can only buy about 60 or 70 percent of the firearms they manufacture.

It's all about "pay-o-la"....but I've said this before...

"What we're trying to get at is there's no place to have sales of military assault rifles or weapons in this state," she said.

Last I looked military weapons were selectable fire. Civvy models are not.

She also said she doesn't believe such a ban would violate the Second Amendment, the right to bear arms.

Yes, yes it would. But the true intent has been muddled by the propaganda axiom "a lie repeated often enough becomes the truth".

Quote
"Did the framers of our Constitution ever envision something like a semi-automatic weapon?" she asked.

Probably not, but what does that have to do with anything? The founders did not espouse bans on weapons, and fully intended a civilian population armed with military style firearms capable of use in martial situations - including the removal of oppressive government if necessary. More than enough ancillary text by the founders supporting this view.  Simply because SA wasn't available at the time doesn't invalidate the premise of private ownership of a weapon closely associated with military usage. And frankly, modern 'black rifles' are as multifaceted as the old flintlock. Capable of use for individual self defense, defense of country, marksmanship and hunting.
Anti: I think some of you gentleman would choose to apply a gun shaped remedy to any problem or potential problem that presented itself? Your reverance (sic) for firearms is maintained with an almost religious zeal. The mind boggles! it really does...

Me: Naw, we just apply a gun-shaped remedy to those extreme life threatening situations that call for it. All the less urgent problems we're willing to discuss.

Those old farts that wrote the most intuitive and inspiring document in American history never envisioned a semi-automatic weapon. Whoopi... They believed in the people as the primary source of protection for the nation. In so doing they believed in the people having the same firepower as the military in which they would be defending us against. I would not be surprised if those same "hacks" as the left thinks of them, would promote the idea that if we arm our military with an M4, a 249 SAW and a Barrett .50 BMG we should be arming the people with them as well. Whooda thought that we could be looking at this so backwards. We shouldn't be banning AR-15s and AK's we should be handing out M16's and M240B. Hell lets get to work... I'll take 2 M4's and a M107 with a side of Claymore's please. And can I get some API rounds for that as well?

Ever see how much damage can be done without an "assault weapon"? Lever and pump actions, even bolt action and revolvers, baseball bats, axes, shovels, good hammer, etc,...

Riding the wave of emotion from the 4 LEO's killed in the coffee shop/diner, is all this is. After all it is Seattle. Outside of San Francisco, they are about as close as you can get politically.

Cities in Oregon, are next, after all it is the "left" coast.

Boston won't let City Police carry AR's either.

Mother , the State, knows best.

"Those old farts" (Up yours youngster  ;D  ) may not have foreseen semi or full Auto weapons, but they thought it was perfectly OK for the Citizens to own the same artillery pieces as the Army.

I don't think of that why personally, but, those asinine fascist running the country and destroying the constitution now seem to. Else they wouldn't be contradicting and undermining our freedoms like they are.
