A LEO friend of mine had a Rock River Arms A2 style rifle with 20 inch barrel on order since last December. It was ordered through a Law Enforfement equipment dealer or sales person that would only sell to LEOs. Supposedly LEOs had priority for delivery. It was ordered 12-18-08 and he recieved it 11-18-09.... 11 months.

I believe that dealer would've been S-O-L when it came in, b/c id have went elsewhere unless id already paid him. An 11mth wait is ridiculous. Id hate to order something from him & not have priority. I might die of old age waiting on my gun.
I hate having to order anything(gun, truck, ATV). Makes me nervous to put money up on something i havent seen. I ordered a new Browning X-Bolt Stainless Stalker in .243win. Irked me in the first place to pay $989+tax on a rifle that's maker wont give you an accuracy guarentee when a MOA Guarentee Stainless Tikka can be had for under $600. Hell, for what this Browning(and i like a Browning) was gonna cost i couldve had a rifle built for her that we knew would shoot! But that's the one she wanted, & that was what was important to me.
Ordered it in Feb. and the 1st of April i got a call that my rifle was in. Took off work and drove 30miles to the shop, and he hands me a synthetic/Blued X-Bolt. After a brief arguement about what I'd ordered he admitted it was a mistake and agreed to send it back. Glad i didnt give her the money and have her go pick it up. He gave me the impression he would have pressured her to take it, knowing it wasn't what she wanted. Well, i ended up in the hospital all of June & half of July. I get a call from him the 1st week of August saying he's got it. At this point im not getting around to good, so i ask my father to drive me over there to pick it up. I get there and he's apologizing for the mix-up & for how long its taken. He goes to get her rifle to install scope mounts while im looking for a scope. He returns and sets the rifle in the vise on his work bench. I glance up at it and something about the crown or muzzle doesnt look right. I walked around the counter to get a closer look, and i see stamped on the barrel 7mm-08 Rem. Told him he could package his mounts back up cause i wouldn't be paying for a rifle that wasnt mine. He said he guessed he could just keep it and try to sell it in the store. I told him i didnt really care what he did with it. I order a .243 and thats all i was gonna pay for. After talking to a couple other dealers about how bad the X-Bolt sales were, I feel like this guy had ordered a couple for the store and couldnt sell them. Instead he thought he just assumed i would buy the first thing that came along to keep from disappointing my fiance. I explained what happened at the store and told her that I'd check Gunbroker and that gunshops would start getting stuff in for deer season soon and I'd get her what she wanted.
In the meantime, I won a camo Rem M-700 Buckmaster's Edition(looks alot like an SPS-V to me) and she took up shooting it and loved it. Told me not to get anything else cause she liked that one. Well, i was still looking for an X-Bolt SS .243 to surprise her with at Christmas and 2 weeks ago Thursday, i found one! A gunshop about 4 hours away was advertising just what she wanted. Called the dealer and made arrangements to drive down saturday and pick it up. Be damned, if friday morning i didn't wake up to a "Dear John" text message on my phone! lol. I laugh about it now cause the guy i originally ordered from called me this morning, almost 10 months late, and tells me he has in his shop a Browning X-Bolt Stainless Stalker in .243win if i was still looking for one. Ha, i know he thought i had lost it when i busted out laughing. I told him Nah, i didn't have much need for one but I knew a person that might, so i gave him her phone number.
Maybe they can work out a trade!
