New Indoor Range

No, not my own personal one (  ) but a new one for the community. It's the Red River Regional Marksmanship Center Inc. and the range just opened around Thanksgiving. Not too far from my house, and a nice range, got to shoot it yesterday after Church.

15 lines, will be expanded to 30 when there is more money. Motorized target boards, so no one ever goes down range unless the RO clears the place.

There used to be pictures on the website, don't know what happened to them. There is a flyer here (http://rrrmc.com/info.htm) that shows an architect's drawing of the place as well as a floor plan. Nice place, pricey - $75 to join then $10 each time you go to shoot.

Looks like a good thing.  I maybe missed it, but I assume it is not just .22.  I was thinking it looked like most centerfire handguns, but then I read about it being designed for .22.  Hopefully it will do well enough they can both expand and bring the pricing down.

Yup, .22 pistol and rifle, or center fire pistol. I ran my Para and Sig, plus the LCP. Glad I did. I had forgotten the trigger pull on the LCP is so damn long, and when I have my contacts in, I CAN NOT see the front sight. I go monovision, so I aimed with my contact-less left eye and saw the sight fine. The target was a whole nother problem. Something to work on I guess.

Another problem to work on is that at 10 feet I was shooting tight groups with the .45s (I have photos, need to get them off the cell phone before I can post them). At 20 feet it was a much wider spread but still on the target. Before you laugh at the distances, I haven't shot pistol since last spring maybe?

Anyhow, everything was low. The RO thought I might be thumbing the pistol as I shoot, but I shot with thumbs hanging loose and still shot low. When I raised the top of the front sight above the plane of the back sights I shot center.

Ideas?

According to the famous Wheel of Misfortune ... and personal experience:

#3  Slapping or jerking the trigger;
#2  Tightening the grip;

both very possible with the long trigger pull ...

#1 and my personal favorite ... Drooping your head

Your comments on the contacts would go well with drooping your head.

I developed a real problem as my eyes went to multi-focal lenses.  I have to constantly tell my self to stand up straight and tall, and hold my head high.  Then I bring the gun up to my eye level.  If I need to go down to the gun I raise my arms as I flex my knees.

Best part of trying to fix a problem is that you are making empty brass, and that is always evidence of fun being had.

Can't help you with the shooting, but with the sight picture.......

I have a variety of "reading" glasses ranging from 1.5+ to 2.25+.  These are all constructed with polycarbonate safety type glass.   I just pick the pair that gives me the best sight picture under the conditions.  I'm leaning towards 1.75+ at the moment as the best all around for me.

When I decide which is best, I'll have a pair with that diopter for the right eye and plain glass for the weak eye.
