There were 3 of us packing with a possible 4th who had one in their console (IIRC, he usually does). Also I'm told there was likely a .357 Stashed nearby in the living room. I carried my GLOCK 30 (Carried simply cause I don't get to carry it often anymore), and my now-ever-present S&W 649 in .357 Mag (Which I DID show off to a couple family members who hadn't seen it yet.). My cousin in law was packing his Kahr MK9, and brand spankin' new Ruger LCP. Dad was carrying my AMT Backup .45 ACP. Oh.... Good news about my cousin BTW..... She's finally decided she needs her CHL (I hear a guy tried to follow her when she went to visit her mother. All she had was her mace and cell phone. Thankfully it was enough to get him to keep driving on down the road when she stopped and got out.). She's said to her hubby "I like that new LCP. I'd even probably carry that." And he said "If You'll carry it I'll go buy you one of your very own" I told him, "Go buy another LCP for my cousin" She said after retelling the story about the man following her "It's hard being this cute," and Dad and I both told her to Carry a gun, to which she said "I am. I want to get my license." ;D Before her attitude was "I won't carry outside the house." She has a Taurus .357, which she keeps handy in the house, and can shoot very well, they tell me. My cousin in law said "I feel sorry for anyone who'd try to break in this house during this party tonight."

Had the .357 snub in the pocket today and my 870 in the trunk...

No threats, just showing the nephew who lives in Ft Collins a typical pump gun that would serve him well for cougar protection.  Just converted another one to the pro-gun side....He and his brother left MA for CO a few years ago to check it out and never came back!  Real outdoors kids, musicians who hike, ski, climb and decided they need something more than a rock sometimes in the back country...

Good for them!

you may want to rethink a shot gun for cougie proection.  There is a pretty good chance that you will have to use it with in a few feet or might have to use it to get the cat off some one.  for both  of those a shot gun would be less then ideal.  cougies are pretty weak, a 357 is more then enough.  often cougies are hunted with 22 mags or a 25 20
I always break all the clay pigeons,  some times its even with lead.

Here’s to the crazy ones. The misfits. The rebels. The troublemakers. The round pegs in the square holes. The ones who see things differently. They’re not fond of rules. And they have no respect for the status quo. You can praise them, disagree with them, quote them, disbelieve them, glorify or vilify them. The only thing you can’t do is ignore them

I don't disagree at all TAB.  The problem is, neither of them have ever in their life handled a handgun.  I told him flat out to get lots of information, training and advice from people who know before he makes a decision.  There are definately more options but for simplicities sake, a shotgun works for now.  Ft Collins and CO in general are loaded with folks who can give hiim sage advice and his girlfriends (plural) grew up in the mountains.  They're probably better prepared then the boys are.

Thomas Jefferson: The strongest reason for the people to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against the tyranny of government. That is why our masters in Washington are so anxious to disarm us. They are not afraid of criminals. They are afraid of a populace which cannot be subdued by tyrants."
