^^^ Okay thanks!!
If you were to go here to this YouTube video:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G6BpI3xD6h0At about the 16 second mark, you can see how the AK47's barrel flexes. (I think the AR15/M16 barrel flexes too, but that muzzle end is kinda off camera.

NOT that I am turning this into an AR vs. AK thread....so please don't go there, 'kay?)
I am kinda left wondering and scratching my head that if you shot the same 7.62X39 round out of a bolt action rifle that the accuracy should improve, because the barrel ain't whipping around.
I have heard that some or a lot of the Savage model of bolt action rifles make it really easy for a guy to switch barrels at home.
So...I was thinking experiment-wise, if a guy already had a Savage model _______ Whatever bolt gun, then the cheapest route would be to buy a 7.62X39 barrel. Swap out the barrels, maybe switch out the bolt because of whatever the breechface/headstamp dimensions are of the 7.62X39, and then go shoot!
I worked with a guy years ago who had one of the CZ models chambered in 7.62X39. He brought in a few of his targets to show them off. They looked quite nice actually, and his response to my compliment was, "Yeah, and I get to shoot the cheap milsurp ammo, too!

"
Anywhooo....the whole point I guess I am trying to make here is that I think many people want to poo-poo the 7.62X39 round because of range and accuracy concerns, but forget about the quality of the gun it is most frequently shot out of.
It would be like taking racing Pirelli tires off a Ferrari and putting them on a Ford Pinto.
Or taking a Ferrari and outfitting it with snow tires.
And I think,
in my opinion, an AK with the 7.62X39 milsurp ammo is like bolting snow tires onto the Pinto. Ya get the worst of both worlds.
in my opinion...
