I don't care about what caliber it is. As far as I'm concerned they should have thier revolvers available in every caliber anyway.

I'm irritated about the countdown and trying to make this a big deal. It isn't.

And so what, they made a smaller version of a gun they already produce. Just like everyone else. Welcome to the present day.

Wouldn't it be interesting if the gun industry released data on sales numbers like the movie industry does for new releases?  You know, "Finishing up their first three months in the market now, the .327 Blackhawk, and GP100 continue riding the bottom of the charts with 8 combined units sold to world wide." (giveaway guns for reviews and press shouldn't count).

This whole subject / thread / product line just looks to me like Ruger management following footsteps of GM, Chrysler, and Ford.  "Out of touch with their market".  The "old big 3" got away with it for a while to.   :(  I'm guessing Obama won't be giving gun companies bail outs when reality hits.

It's just disappointing is all.

ericire12 you could very well be correct.  Didn't compare measurements, just assumed ( and we all know what that means!) it was their mid-size.  Will check it out anyway just in case.  Also, like I said, I still will wait for the XDM sc because they have decided to put sights on the M versions that are closer to what I am able to use.  I hate having to replace sights!

Ballistics for a .327 Mag. with a 100 grain bullet are identical to 9mm 100 grain.  Most 9mm handguns carry twice the number of rounds, are lighter, smaller, easier to find ammo for, FAR cheaper to shoot, and you can get all kinds of carbines in 9mm to share ammo with.  If S ever does HTF odds of you finding somebody else to get 9mm ammo from are just a little higher than the .327 (store shelves, second hand sales, whatever).

Makes me think even more .327 was born a white rhino, and will stay one.

I think you better take another look at those numbers.

I don't know of too many rounds that approach 1500 FPS and 500 ft/lb of energy from a 9mm ...check the Federal site...

I think Ruger hit a home run with the .327 Blackhawk...it should appeal to the small-game hunter/woodsman as well as the SASS crowd (if they relax the 6-round rule)....

....and that SR9sc almost makes me regret buying my XDsc a couple of weeks ago....

...but I'm a little dicey about the GP-100...esp. with only a 7-shot cylinder...Ruger should be doing that for the .357Mag and 8-shot cylinders for the .327Mag....and 5-shot cylinders for the .44SPL....

...biggest worry....is Federal/ATK going to ramp up their .327Mag ammo production to support Ruger in selling these guns?....a gun with no ammo is less than useless....just ask the .380ACP gun owners....
Why, yes....I'm the right-wing extremist Obama warned you about... ;D

I just wish Texas was as free and independent as everyone thinks it is...   :'(

http://gunsandammomag.com/cs/Satellite/IMO_GA/Chart_C/AMMUNITION+BALLISTICS+FOR+9mm+Luger+%25289x19mm%2529

9mm 100 grain, 1450fps, 457lb energy with 4" barrel.  or 1475fps, 473 with +p ammo.

.327 fired from a 3 1/16" barrel SP101.
*  Federal Premium 85 grain Hydra-Shot JHP - MV 1330 fps, ME 334 ft. lbs.
* American Eagle 100 grain SP - MV 1400 fps, ME 435 ft. lbs.
* Speer 115 grain Gold Dot JHP - MV 1300 fps, ME 431 ft. lbs.

How much closer do you want?

Sporting only a 4" barrel...  Please don't use type of bullet as an excuse for .327 to be superior.  There are more types of 9mm bullets available than could ever be listed in a single thread.

9 mm = 0.354330" - Permanent wound cavity size?  Advantage (though SLIM!) - 9mm

A fraction of the .357's recoil seems to be the biggest selling point.

Yeah, I can't say I've ever shot a .357 Magnum next to a 9mm.  I'm thinking the 9 is a LOT lighter though.   :-\

I don't even own a 9mm.  So I'm not defending it.  I just think the whole .327 caliber was a weak concept even when that's all it was, a concept.  And there's NOTHING wrong with technology and innovation leading to new calibers!  LIKE IT!  LOVE IT!  WANT MORE OF IT!  The only technology and innovation I find in the .327 is just marketing hype.   :(
