It's definitely a personality thing. I my self wouldn't spray paint a gun, but I do want to have an AR duracoated. I saw one at the gun show last month done in the new Army ACU digital camo pattern. I liked the look so much I think I'm going to get mine done in the AF pattern! ;D

Okay, I'll speak up for painting guns, for this reason:

When you get tired of it, or it starts to wear off and look ratty, you can just strip it off with lacquer thinner and you're back to square one. No big deal.
And he's dreaming about an intruder or two
And the promise of burglar blood,
And he's yearning to chew on a gangster tattoo
And to hear the proverbial sickening thud...

Why does a bear crap in the woods?

I like blued guns, always have but they're not so popular anymore so Duracoat or Parakoat or krylon or whatever the flavor of the day makes a worn gun look new again.  Some folks go a little overboard, it's human nature.

Most mortal folks, ie.....everone on the forum but you and kilopaparomeo can only afford a few guns in the locker.  What did you spend last year on guns Bill, 10 large?

While I can afford more today than I could ten years ago, if I had an extra 10 grand to spend, it would probably be for a decent vacation not another AR so a can of Duracoat makes sense......OK, I'd buy that lever gun I want too!  (and about 9400 bucks worth of ammo!)   ;D

I solved that problem by moving to where we always ended up vacationing! In the last 18 years I've lived here it wound up paying for a lot of guns, not to mention no airport hassles and lost luggage.  ;D  Bill T.
