"The Best Defense" is still BEST!
« on: January 14, 2010, 12:16:07 PM »
I don't know who thinks up the scenarios and demonstrations put on by these program hosts, but I'm never disappointed.  A case in point happened on the show yesterday.  Most of the competing shows go through houses firing on the bad guys.  Yesterday, they showed how the most popular caliber pistols fared against a bookcase and a few books.

Wow!  Who would have thought that a 9mm round would penetrate better than all the others.  I still love my .45, because it has proven itself over time from the first during the wars.  I won't discount my 9mm again.

The point made by Michael at the end of the program about a longer slide and shorter grip for a concealed carry weapon was well put as well.  I thought when I first began shooting pistols that the full length grip was necessary for a good shot.  That was before I got my Taurus PT745.  It has a short grip and smaller grip for that matter for shorter fingers (mine).  It is highly controllable and very accurate.  I think the fact that it's using the .45 acp round that pushes rather than kicking up as many other calibers do makes a big difference.

Anyway, I got windy, but needed to extend some praise where due.  I hope everyone has a great week!

Thats why I got rid of my G-22 and went with a smaller grip on the Taurus PT 140 . I also think the single stack pistols are much better in a pinch than the big doubles. just my .02

That's the problem with the XDM 3.8  "Short Barrel....Long Grip".  Something is out of proportion.

This is something I hadn't thought about with my search for a compact M&P. I was surprised to see that the barrel length on the M&P compact was only 3.5" while the full size is 4.25". I figured the compact would be about 3". That said the grip is considerably shorter. This segment has re-enforced my decision on the M&Pc over some of the competitors. Glock seems to have the right idea too.

Thanks, Dgray!

We appreciate you watching and commenting. Glad you are getting something out of it.

I'm going to move this from the section for D&T and put it in the Cafe for casual discussion of the show.

THANKS!
