Question about SHOT Show?
« on: January 15, 2010, 03:27:28 PM »
I have been looking at the NSSF SHOT Show website and it appears you can't just go to SHOT.  They advertise it like it is open to the public but clearly state that it is not.  So.. Is there anyway to get there from here?  I would like to go sometime but I am not a dealer I just like to shoot.  Almost looks like if your a member of NSSF you could get in.  Their requirements are almost confusing.  If I had an FFL could I get in?  Could I go as a guest of someone with an FFL?

Make application as a shooting range, even if your just a member, use your local shooting club and that will normally allow you in. Be prepared to spend all 4 days, it does take that long to just look at the stuff and talk to people you want to talk to.

Also try to get to the NRA Convention in Charlotte, NC this year In May. Usually the two are just a few months apart, and admission is easier, and a lot of what is "premiered" at SHOT, shows up at the NRA convention.

That is why our masters in Washington are so anxious to disarm us. They are not afraid of criminals. They are afraid of a populace which cannot be subdued by tyrants."

Buddy up to a local gunshop, and see if they'll agree to "send" you (on your nickel of course) as their agent.

Does a C&R FFL count as an FFL for getting into SHOT?

Heck I have a couple of guys I work with that have their FFL's.   We could go as a product research trip.  I'm just looking for people that had any ideas if it is really as hard as they make it sound to get into.

If you have a sales tax permit you can apply as a business, or do as was said by Path - buddy up with your local gun dealer.  I had an open invite from my gunsmith, but couldn't get away.

95% of the stuff at Shot will be at the NRA.. The only difference is NRA convention will have a lot more people.. families..kids etc... so be prepared to take the days to look as you will be inching your way around crowds..
Both events are a good time.. NRA will be fun as I know that several DR members will be there so I'm looking forward to being able to send them all the corner in person.. LOL

I actually could have gotten away ... I was even looking at the calendar and realized I'm supposed to be there ... and a tear came to my eye, but that might also be Lyle laying in the other room  :'(

However, the trade off is that the last week of Feb. is coming together  ;D  Got the friend on board (his wife and my wife put me in charge of getting him out of the barn for nine days), and now all we need is a trailer and a condo ... and gas money, and it will be a Tahoe, two bikes and four very tired people headed to Florida!  ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
