Damn the voting laws,......I posted about the underwear changing earlier in the week.....

The panic on the left concerning Tuesday's special Senatorial election is getting palpable, for on Friday, MSNBC's Ed Schultz said on his radio program that he would try to vote ten times if he lived in Massachusetts.

"Yeah, that's right, I'd cheat to keep these bastards out," he told his audience.

Its the Hillary syndrome. Party aside, people (particularly party people) can't stand it when their candidate doesn't get the seat they're 'entitled" to. "She's earned it, she's paid her dues, how dare that upstart take what's hers"? Remember the PUMAS (party unity my ass) like Ferraro saying they wouldn't back BO because he "stole" the primary? This folks, is all about arrogance and entitlement.  The Dems thought they owned that seat and it could be passed out to whomever. Croaker was a good soldier, it is her turn (ala Dole in 1996) and who thought she'd actually have to campaign? Pride goeth before a fall. Not a new concept, unless you're a politician, then you seem to discover it the hard way as though it were a news flash.

Unfortunately, in Assachusetts there is no requirement to identify who you are when you go to the polls.  One merely has to step to the table, announce a random name and street and they're allowed to take a ballot and vote.  All I'd need is a page out of the local phone book and a little luck.

Fraud is a way of life in the People Republic.....and they WILL try and steal it.

But I think the comment says far more about the mindset of the left than it does about the Senate race in Ma.

I have said it before and I will repeat it here again.


Voter Fraud at any level should be considered Treason and the penalty should be death.

My reasoning being that as long as folks like me feel that we can work within the system to bring about the changed needed in this country we will do so.  But if we feel the "system" has been corrupted that leaves only force as the only option, and duty, to correct the situation.  So anyone who does subvert the system by voter fraud is working to bring about the over throwing of the government by force.

On this, I oddly agree. Death is a bit extreme, but there should be consequenses. I'm not one for draconian penalties, as people (Ann Coulter as exhibit A) make dumb mistakes like voting in the wrong precinct. This makes no difference in a Presidential election, but does for say, town council where the rewards for fraud are more tangible and easily realized in terms of corruption and kickbacks.  On the whole though, voter fraud should be treated like tax fraud or failing to register for the draft. Its a basic duty of citizenship, and interferring with the electoral process calls the legitimacy of the system into qestion. I do not want to see a repeat of 2000. Solus is correct. We are a nation of laws or we are not. Those who conspire against this by deed, not just words, should be dealt with harshly. It doesn't really matter who wins in the long run. What does matter is that the people know that they got the Senator they chose and deserved. Anything else is poison to the republic.

 I can actually understand how someone could vote in the wrong precinct, the polling place for the cities "ward 1 is a quarter mile from where I live in downtown, it is on the main drag past where I'll be working, my I had to go to city hall to find out that my Ward 4 polling place is a mile and a half away off of a side street.

Palm Beach County, Florida, has shockingly, gotten this (almost) right. Chastened by 2000, voting places are pretty well consolidated by geographic area. There are just different rooms in the chuch or school for each prescint and voter lists for all of them available to the poll workers. If you're in the wrong room, they'll point you to the right one. Coulter's error (an innocent, but stupid one) was that she thought she could vote from her new addres in a year city council was up for reelection, when her registration had her in a different city, albeit in the same county. This could happen to anyone. We actually seem to be trying to make it less likely, in order to avoid spoiled ballots.
FQ13 who is thinking about volunteering as a poll worker and reccomends it to anyone. Its also a great way to raise money for a charity or gun club as the the few hundred dollars you are paid, magnified by a dozen members adds up .

Since I've moved to Assachusetts, I've voted in three towns.  In all three, there were only one or two polling places and there was no way you could vote in the wrong place.  For Tuesdays election, I will have to travel to my old town because I failed to change my registration to the new town in time for the Brown/Croaker election.

It's perfectly legal, just gotta drive thirty miles out of my way going home from work.  My wife has already voted absentee.
