Hello SpottHogg, welcome to DRTV, sounds like you did some very beneficial research.  If it meets your requirements, grip, usage, price, application,  etc,... than you made a good choice.

Can you or have you had a chance to test fire any? Please post some pics and a range report after you get it. We love that stuff..

Usually photobucket.com is pretty straight forward on uploading and posting pics. Congratulations.

Thomas Jefferson: The strongest reason for the people to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against the tyranny of government. That is why our masters in Washington are so anxious to disarm us. They are not afraid of criminals. They are afraid of a populace which cannot be subdued by tyrants."

STI builds superb products, including the Spartan. I've shot several of them, and they were all what I think of as "STI guns." More importantly, when Dave Skinner at STI was putting the gun together, I went down to the factory in Texas and went through the gun with him a part at a time, with Dave explaining where each part was made and each assembled and how they were being held at every step to STI quality standards. He also went into detail on his and his engineers' involvement in setting up the Philippines' factory...Dave is one of the best pure manufacturing guys in the business (he's already made one fortune in manufacturing before he "retired" and bought STI).

All the $600-range 1911s (STI, Taurus, Para, Springfield) are truly better than they have any right to be...amazing to an old 1911 hand!

MB, is that the same factory that makes the "Rock Island" 1911's for Armscor ?
If so it's a recommendation in my book .
