Too bad I can't drink with my meds.  :(  I would play too.
""It may be laid down as a primary position, and the basis of our system, that every Citizen who enjoys the protection of a free Government, owes not only a proportion of his property, but even his personal services to the defence of it, and consequently that the Citizens of America (with a few legal and official exceptions) from 18 to 50 Years of Age should be borne on the Militia Rolls, provided with uniform Arms, and so far accustomed to the use of them, that the Total strength of the Country might be called forth at a Short Notice on any very interesting Emergency." - George Washington. Letter to Alexander Hamilton, Friday, May 02, 1783

He did make three good points.
The first recognizing that education in science and math was a security issue, pointing out China, India and Russia, language not used since the Cold War and echoing JFKs comment  that "America would not take second place".
He also reiteratated that companies that ship jobs over seas would pay higher taxes than those who kept jobs at home. Good!
Finally he gave the green light to nuclear power and off shore drilling which would solve our whole terrorist problem if we were energy independent and could just walk away from the middle east.
I didn't like a lot of the rest of the speech. I did say on another thread that my opinon of him was low, and that as far as hope and change went, I hoped he'd change. On these issues, he seems to have grown up. Health care is still a loser, but I do see some signs to hope he'll change. The bitch slap to the SC and the whole Congress in regard to lobbyists (notable by the deafening silence, were a plus for me too). Still have buyers remorse, but not as badly as I did yesterday. :-\ :-[ ;D

Hey, I can read between the lines.  We are sooooo screwed with this guy as POTUS.

Maybe if the Dems lose big time in the fall elections they will support removing him from office.

We can only hope.

This guy says one thing, then does something else.  They still call that kind of person a liar where I grew up.  Anyone who would listen to anything he said and put a shred of hope in what he says may well be unbalanced.

Necessity is the plea for every infringement of human freedom.
It is the argument of tyrants; it is the creed of slaves.

Sumbitch makes my head hurt.
"I expect perdition, I always have. I keep this building at my back, and several guns handy, in case perdition arrives in a form that's susceptible to bullets. I expect it will come in the disease form, though. I'm susceptible to diseases, and you can't shoot a damned disease." ~ Judge Roy Bean, Streets of Laredo

For the Patriots of this country, the Constitution is second only to the Bible for most. For those who love this country, but do not share my personal beliefs, it is their Bible. To them nothing comes before the Constitution of these United States of America. For this we are all labeled potential terrorists. ~ Dean Garrison

I think I am afflicted with a short term version of Tourette's.

See, every time I hear the applause start up, I just shout out, "YOU LIE!"

I can't help myself.

I am watching the replay on Fox news.  He just said that the income tax was not raised at all, "not one dime".  Bull Krap!

The with-holding tables got tinkered with between last year and this year.

#$^%^ liar!   >:(

What did he just say (again)?

Student loan debt forgiveness after ten years for people who get into public service??!!

Define "public service"....working at an ACORN office?

Stuffing ballot boxes with dead persons's votes?

At first blush, this sounds like a good way to get liberal academia to "recruit" students who can't hack engineering or the hard sciences with the bait of having their student loans forgiven once their more liberally indoctrinated butts land in a city, state, or federal civil service job.

Great....just what we need...more government employees.   ::)

Here’s to the crazy ones. The misfits. The rebels. The troublemakers. The round pegs in the square holes. The ones who see things differently. They’re not fond of rules. And they have no respect for the status quo. You can praise them, disagree with them, quote them, disbelieve them, glorify or vilify them. The only thing you can’t do is ignore them
