I have a chance to get an M&P9 SPECOPS with threaded barrel for $525 plus shipping. Is it a deal?

Not for sure, but a regular old run of mill M&P 9 goes for $535 at the reasonable priced store round Louisville.

Yeah, the regular M&Ps go for about $550 give or take, so you are basically getting the threaded barrel version upgrade for free.

I'm not familiar with the Specops version of the pistol but the regular price for the M&P9 at my local store is 589+tax. the military/leo discount price from S&W is 529+tax with nightsights and a 3rd mag. So I think the price of 525 isn't bad. How many mags does it come with? They cost $35-$39 each. What kind of sights does it have? I guess those are the things you need to consider when deciding if it's really a good deal or not. Oh and what is the dealer transfer fee from your dealer? That can be $10-$50 more than if you just order it from your local dealer.

For a used gun, it seems OK, even for 50 rds. fired. A local shop here in town has M+P 9's for $550 give or take.....

Than I was told, if I wanted to trade in anything towards a new purchase they would only give me $200. :-\ So if I had a G21 with less than "x" number of rounds through it, doesn't matter if it still looks new, with box, and all manuals....

What is so different with the SPECOPS besides a threaded barrel?

Sounds like a good deal, not stellar, but a good deal. Get to splitting hairs for $20-$50, difference....It's still a great pistol...

I searched high and low for a Specops 9 before I bought my regular M&P. Guntoker thought they were made of gold and since they were a limited run you couldn't order one.

I'll tell ya what. Buy it (it is a good price) and if you don't like the threaded barrel I'll swap you my barrel for the threaded.  ;D

I really want a can (late night vermin and all).

I didn't have too much trouble finding them for $19.99 with a little googling.
