We sure can't get the news from the news. Last night, a local Los Angeles news story reported about how the state was planning to offer more bear tags this next season to help take care of the increasing bear population problem. They let some tree-hugger lady spout her entire spiel about how the state just wanted to breed bears for revenue, but only showed clips of those opposed basically saying, "duh, it ain't so." I'm sure that if they asked someone in the know, they could have elaborated on the fact that this is actually good for the bear population and how rather than paying a state employee, or contractor to hunt the bears, it is worth allowing hunters to pay for the licenses. Someone may have given that answer, but our news wanted to editorialize by omission. Hey, it's CA!

You did better than many of my students in an intro to an American Government class at the university level would have. Good on 'ya (and shame on them). Its like a prof I worked for who pulled a "pop quiz" to his intro class. He gave the class in a University of Texas, Intro to  American Government class (required) the citizenship test. He made this statement. "Everyone will take this test, and it will count as a quiz (he gave these about every other week). OR you can play for your grade. Pass it with a 75% or beter and you are done for the semester no need to attend or turn in any work. You get an A. Fail and you get an F game over, take the class next semester, because those are the stakes immigrants play for". Out of 214 students, less than 120 passed. Most of those barely passed. Only one student took him up on his challenge, by signing her name on the top of the paper. She passed with a 90, got her A and we never saw her again. Doc Jamail said, "On the  one hand I'm sad to lose the one student in the class with a set of balls to match her brain. On the other hand, I taught her all I could when she signed the test." 
FQ13 who wishes folks actually taught civics and current events in the US. I mean, its only about how to run the country, nothing important.

Not stupid, just uninformed. Since you've chosen Droopy as your avtar, here's the rolled up newspaper. Read the paper or watch the news at least five days out of seven or you are a bad American! (slap, slap) We have a responsibility to stay abreast of events or we aren't a representative democratic republic, we're idiots voting for idiots and have no right to complain. This isn't a slam on you jumbo, its just making the point that if you don't have the facts you can't form an opinion, and if you have an opinion with no facts, well........
