Cops "need" a gun at at a high school dance today. They didn't 41 years ago. I'm not supporting what they did, but back then guns at dances weren't necessary, and were never carried. High school dance chaperones do not need to be armed. These guys simply removed his attitude, along with his weapon, and perhaps in the process gave him a reason to carry it the next time. Of course he had to buy a new one.   Bill T.

Along these same lines...

I was at a football game in highschool and one of the school jokesters tip toed up behind a cop who was talking to the band director. The kid was dancing and goofing on the cop behind his back and the cop had no idea what was going on.... after a while the kid decided it would be fun to slip his night stick out of his belt and twirl it behind the cop's back. Sure enough, it went off without a hitch and the cop had no idea until the band director pointed it out to him. It was funny to see the look of shame on the cop's face.
Everything I needed to learn in life I learned from Country Music.

Everyone makes mistakes......But in this case, the consequences are just a tad bit higher. Hope someone just turns it in and keeps it out of the "wrong" hands....

Yeah, that'll happen!!  ;D

If any ne'er-do-well stumbled across it and knew what he was doing or what he had, he would have "gutted" it out already, sold the upper by itself, sold the stock, stripped the trigger parts out of the lower and then tossed that lower into a river or lake.  I am guessing since it was for LE it might have been equipped with a giggle switch.  Jeessh....that would be really bad ju ju to be a civilian caught with a selective fire or fully automatic weapon, and a stolen LE serialized one at that.   :o

All  true, but can you imagine how prized a trophy that would be for a banger?

Second moral. High school wrestlers get shot. Survivors doing ten years. You reach for a cops (or my) gun and you're playing for your life. It better be worth it. As far as swarming an officer? If it had hit a judge you woud have been lucky if you were given the chance to volunteer for Vietnam.
FQ13 who was once young and stupid, but yikes! If I risk my life and that kind of jail time commiting a crime, its going to be robbing an armored car.

On this we agree, FQ.

On this we agree, FQ.

Rather than FQ's Armored Car, how about we stuff a few ballot boxes and get your dog registered to vote ?

One advantage to big, tall, gas hog trucks, and vans, for that matter... It's harder to reach the roof so you don't get in the habit of putting junk on the top of the truck. ;D
