Stupid Ruger Question
« on: February 22, 2010, 06:28:56 PM »
I know this is a going to be a very stupid question, but the guy at the store swore its true.  I have been collecting firearms for going on 30 years now, and I have never heard of this hybrid.  A local gun store has a Ruger Security Six with a Colt Python barrel.  The dealer swore that this was a factory original, joint venture of Ruger and Colt. Is there any chance that this is legit, or is this a waste of a good Python barrel???  I have search all of my reference material and can not find reference to this contraption.

It sounds to me like it's cobbled together.
""It may be laid down as a primary position, and the basis of our system, that every Citizen who enjoys the protection of a free Government, owes not only a proportion of his property, but even his personal services to the defence of it, and consequently that the Citizens of America (with a few legal and official exceptions) from 18 to 50 Years of Age should be borne on the Militia Rolls, provided with uniform Arms, and so far accustomed to the use of them, that the Total strength of the Country might be called forth at a Short Notice on any very interesting Emergency." - George Washington. Letter to Alexander Hamilton, Friday, May 02, 1783

Hmmmmm..... Seems more of a custom application than any type of standard manufacture. Not criticizing, just thinking that folks with the resources, can customize anything. If I put a Mauser action on Remington barrel, would I have a Mausington? Or a Sig and a Glock leads to a Slock?

Just sayin, ....Factory original? I doubt it....Unless it was a gunsmith's experiment.
Thomas Jefferson: The strongest reason for the people to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against the tyranny of government. That is why our masters in Washington are so anxious to disarm us. They are not afraid of criminals. They are afraid of a populace which cannot be subdued by tyrants."
Col. Jeff Cooper.

He's full of it!!!!!  Gunsmiths were putting them together years ago.  They were also putting the Python barrel on S&W revos which was one of the reasons S&W went with the full underlug barrel.

FWIW

Richard

PS:  That is just like so many tableholders at gunshows labeling something as "RARE" ----- just so much BS to try to sell something they have too much in!
