I'am new to this forum, I have a question, I'am right handed and want to know what side left or right , should I wear a magazine holster for my spare mags?  I would love to hear from expierenced people, any imput would be greatly appreciated.

 I've been carrying since 1985 (Florida was NOT the first ccw state ) and since I am also a righty I carry my spare mags on the left , just behind my hip, that way I can be reaching for the mag while still shooting if needed.

Hello rsm, and welcome. Generally, concealed carry will go to the strong side with a IWB holster. This is usually best achieved with a smaller framed pistol.

However, size, clothing, (especially in winter) , can change that. Full size pistols can be cross drawn, with the right rig, usually shoulder style, but the wardrobe, (jacket, sweater, coat), all will apply.

Depends on a few critical factors. Type of clothing, size of firearm, movement and flexibility... For example, in S. Fl. I can Carry my full size 1911, or M+P 40, if I want in shorts and a T-Shirt, but if I sit "funny", I can print, or otherwise reveal a large bulge on my hip, or small of the back. So, I carry a smaller framed pistol for my clothing, on my strong side, with a spare mag, or Bianchi speed strip, in my weak side pocket.

The trick is to experiment. Usually, a local gunshop, will accomodate your unloaded firearm, to "try" different styles, types and rigs for CCW, and can offer good advice.

Perhaps you can follow up with a description of size, caliber, model of what you intend to carry. Many have posted on "pocket pistols" and/or small frame handguns. Or full size that have other options as well.

I'm a lefty, and carry a few different pistols. Usually, IWB, with spare mags/speed strips, on the right side.

I will be carring a Glock 19 , using a Phatom modular holster by Raven concealment systems, I'am right handed, I wanted to order a spare Mag holder thru them, but held off due to the holster would be different pending on right or left side carry.  I carry a small fram revlolver sometimes , and the speed loader case I wear is on the left side.  I want to start carring the Glock in place of the revolver and just want to make sure I want the left side mag holder.

Usually left side mag, but in some situations an extra mag in the pocket, preferably in a pocket magazine holster, works well. You might also look at horizontal magazine holder that lays flat along the belt...

Speaking of pocket magazine holsters, I can't seem to find one designed for the rear pocket. Anyone know of any manufacturers?

If ya Shoot right handed, carry spare mags on the left. My cousin in law carries the spare mag for his Kahr 9MM in a 5 dollar knife pouch from Bass Pro Shops. Nobody knows whats in it unless he tells them. A knife pouch on a belt don't get a second look from most folks.

In the pocket is great, especially during the winter months. i recommend you experiment a little. Sitting in a vehicle, walking around, comfort is a little by product compared to accessibility.

I am in Law Enforcement and sometimes carry two guns on my strong side. one in holster and the other iwb, but it is a left handed holster, this one is behind the hip more, so i can access it with my left and right hand.

I use the horizontal mag carrier from Safariland and find it very comfortable and versatile.  Sometimes I switch between guns and it easily accommodates the different mags.  Because it uses a velcro attachment and closure system, it adapts to single or double stack mags very well and attaches/removes without removing your belt.  Best of all, it doesn't squeak. If you're going to be sitting you'll probably find that horizontal carry is more comfortable.  I also think it conceals easier, but that could just be me.

The trade off is that it is not as fast as a vertical pouch, but if you practice you probably won't notice the difference.

For less than $20 it may be worth a try.

I use a cell phone holder as an extra mag pouch.  It is a old leather one with the magnetic flap.  Works like a charm.
