It was an interesting piece.  I too find it suspect that there were several failures on the XDm.  Many things could cause it.  I will admit that I'm biased.  My XDm 9mm has had over 2000 rds through it without 1 FTF or FTE.  It is a very accurate pistol from 7yds out to 25+yds.  I do find that it is noticeably more accurate with a quality +P ammo which is my defensive carry round.

As for the Glock, the latest generation looks 100 times better.  It is the standard bearer so it should always be reliable.  I honestly think there is less than a hairs difference between the Glock, XDm, and M&P.  It just depends on personal preference.  I'd trust my life with any of them.

  Strange? None of the XDs that I've owned has experienced any kind of failures.

I don't know if any of you have seen this before (it's been around awhile) but here's a 20,000 round torture test on the XD that was done by a Glock guy and it shows just how good this platform is.

He even comments on the lack of cleaning that was performed during the tesing.

Nutnfancy does a good job in his reviews and he does a lot of direct comparisons, which is good. One of my You Tube favorites is Hickok 45. He's a retired older guy and has his own private range in his "backyard". It appears to be in rural Tennessee or Kentucky. He doesn't like scopes, and his a very good shot with handguns, as well as iron sighted rifles. He pours through the ammo, and really puts a gun through it's paces. It is nothing for this guy to ring steel plates at 200 yards with a handgun. He is a natural in front of the camera as well. Very easy to watch. He has zero problem heating up an AK in this one.   Bill T.
