I Saw Someone We Know On The History Channel
« on: March 02, 2010, 05:34:26 PM »
I was home for a late lunch today and happened to turn on the History Channel while I ate.  They were featuring a program called "After Armeggeddon", which was a documentary about what would happen in this country if the SHTF.  Their premise was a pandemic, and followed a family of 3 trying to flee Los Angeles.  Imagine my surprise when one of the "experts" they had on camera talking about the SHTF scenario and what is likely to happen was none other than our own Michael Bane.  He looked a tad pale and tired, but then he IS getting old.  ;D

If I can find out if/when the program will be on again I'll post details.  2 hour program, but interesting and scary at the same time.  And no, it wasn't Michael's appearance that was scary.   ;D

Glad to see you've crossed over into the mainstream, MB!!  u da man!!  ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

It's been on a number of times before, and we have talked about this show and the one that followed it, Earth 2100 aka earth hippi happiness, many, many times when it first came out.

And his blog.

Welcome to the party TT!   ;D  ;D  ;D

Yeah, I started watching that again yesterday too.

It is like a train wreck of a show...in a good way...in that if it is on, you can't help but watch it.

I googled that one guy's name Kevin Reeve.

Just by the way he came across in that show, I'm guessing he's got an interesting personality and/or view on things.  I wouldn't mind sitting down at a bar with him, drinking a few beers and eating some wings...I bet he has all sorts of interesting war stories he could pass along.

And Michael Bane's comments were again very useful.  I don't think the editors of the show did him any justice with his comments on water...they just kinda skimmed over it.  Yes, water is heavy.  About 8 pounds a gallon.  And yes water is very critical to your survival in the PAW (post-apocalypic world).

I just saw it the other night as well...  Not a bad likeness for what it may be like for some people.  But my thoughts are that things would progress FAR faster than the time line they'd shown.  And the people they encountered would have been far more aggressive.

Hope I'm not here to see the real show!   ;)

It cracks me up that you change your avatar picture so much.

My guess with respect to bugging out is....well...if you are already asking yourself if you should bug out...you probably should have by now/then.

Kinda like being in a confrontation and you have that little Magnum P.I. voice in the back in your head going, "Should I draw my weapon?"

Well, you probably should have already.
