Has anyone gone to an annual NRA meeting?  This year it is in Charlotte.   Is it worth going to?

I have been to 2, 1st was fun and in town, 2nd was last year, and it was awesome, flew to phoenix, and met the the 3 m's, it was expanded immensely, a lot like the shot show. I had a ball, and was there all 4 days. If it is within your power, go, and have a good time, we are trying to get a decision, on how DRTV people can meet and where. ;D ;D ;D

I am in Charlotte so it is not a problem going.  I think it would be pretty cool to go.  It seems like it would be a very interesting thing to go too.   Seeing Sarah Palin speak would not be bad either.    Was just getting feed back on what to expect.   Thanks for the good feed back.  I don't think it can get here quick enough.

Been to the last 2, last year we stayed in the holiday inn through NRA housing. The year before we stayed at a flea bag I picked due to price, this year its NRA reservations again. We saw Tupalo, Gunny and Ronnie Barret, never found MB or Larry Potterfield and just missed Ted Nugent. Talking to the representatives of the gun makers and aftermarket products is worth the trip all by itself. Charter Arms was willing to send me a replacement screw with just an E-Mail at no charge and listen to my request for a .45acp three or four inch bulldog and 9mm three inch pocket revolver. Taurus said no one wanted a revolver that shot auto ammo with a barrel over two inches. ?????? My chance for a face to face with BSA will come in May when I politely tell them that sending back their defective product at my expense and including a $10 check for a replacement isn't my idea of a guarantee.

A word on the meetings and the speeches, some you need to sign up for, so investigate it 1st, I don't know ( and I should ) which event Sarah is speaking at, but you need to find out to get a seat, 2nd, make sure your NRA membership is in good order and get there early, it can take an hour to just get your badge to go through the doors. 3rd, arrive early ( real early ) to any public event like Uncle Ted, I did not try to go to his 1st event which was on Saturday and of course that is the most popular day of the the annual meeting, he was in a separate room on Sunday at 1pm, arrived at 12:40, the room was at over capacity and no one else was allowed in. Just food for thought, planning is everything, so look up the events and when and where they are, some of the seminars are excellent, the movie Jeff Cooper: A Man in full, was shown and I did not plan for it, saw some from outside the door. On the last day I met his daughter Lindsay, a very gracious woman, as was her mom and dad whom I had the pleasure of spending 30 minutes with at shot one year, she gave me a coupon to purchase the DVD at a discount, and advised me ( which I did ) to have a party with my shooting buddies and charge them 5 bucks a piece, instead I had them buy the beer and the food. I also purchased Shot Luck, his last book, and now wished I had bought the new premium edition of Principles of self defense, leather bound with gold guilding,  built in cloth book marker, just like a bible,  I asked her how much, and with sympathy in her eyes said, it is 150.00 dollars, now wish I had bought it and had her sign it.

Good luck, Hope to see your there  ;D

I went to hear Rush several years back in Nashville and to hear Chuck Yeager  in Orlando.  I got good seats in both cases, just by accident.  Chuck started by saying he'd told so many lies about his hunting and fishing exploits he didn't know what was true anymore.  He asked the audience if he could talk about flying.   WOW.  We all gave a SO for that and were treated to an hour of his flying exploits.  Some of which I don't think are documented anywhere.  It was definitely worth going.

The "trade show" is worth it.    It's kinda like the Shot Show but for consumers.

Do you need to register in advance to get in to the show?

My dad is planning on coming down so he and I can go together this year. Neither of us has been to one before, so we thought it would be fun to make a road trip out of it. I need to get moving on my hotel reservations so I don't miss out.

Thread I started about the convention:
