One thing I would mention about the Ruger semi .22's is don't take them apart to clean them! It isn't really necessary. All I do with all 3 of mine is after a day at the range I use a coffee can full of clean Kerosene or WD-40. You can buy WD-40 in gallon size cans at Home Depot or Lowe's for around $12.00 a gallon. Pick up some of those cheap, imitation camel hair paint brushes from the painting dept. for about .50 cents a piece. Take the gun and while holding it over the coffee can, liberally, (God I hate that word), take the paint brush and dunk it in the Kerosene and brush out all of the chamber area and slide. Don't be afraid of the Kerosene or WD-40. Let it run everywhere. It won't hurt a thing. Not even the finish of the grips, be they plastic or wood. You will be amazed at the amount of crap that will flush out of the gun.
After you get clean solvent running out, use compressed air with a blow gun, (You can get both a small air compressor and hose and nozzle from Harbor Freight for under $50.00), to blow the entire gun dry to the touch. Both Kerosene as well as WD-40 evaporate quickly. WD smells better. Wipe everything down, then generously oil everything with a good grade of motor oil. I like Mobil 1 20W-50. If you live in a cold climate use 0W-20.
I do the same for bolts in bolt action rifles. I've NEVER taken one apart. The Kerosene / WD-40 paint brush method will get your guns just as clean and save a ton of cussing trying to put guns and bolts back together. The Cardinal rule you MUST FOLLOW with all guns is, they always come apart easier than they go back together. With this method there is far less cussing, and more joy! Bill T.
