Eliminating Concealed Carry Permits
« on: March 09, 2010, 11:41:26 AM »
Hello All,

Will there ever be a time when it will be appropriate to eliminate concealed carry permits?

I do not need a permit to speak freely or not incriminate myself.  That's what the BoR is all about.

Your thoughts?

Stay Safe,
Scott

There exists a law, not written down anywhere but inborn in our hearts; a law which comes to us not by training or custom or reading but by derivation and absorption and adoption from nature itself; a law which has come to us not from theory but from practice, not by instruction but by natural intuition. I refer to the law which lays it down that, if our lives are endangered by plots or violence or armed robbers or enemies, any and every method of protecting ourselves is morally right.

Move to Vermont.Just understand that your carry piece will be concealed under a tie dyed T-shirt, with a Ben and Jerry's stain on it. Sometimes the hippys do get it right. ;D

Possible, but just as possible it could go 180 the other way if we aren't vigilant!

I thought about moving to AK where you have no choice but to conceal so it doesn't freeze!

I agree.  Could easily go awry on us.

I was just wondering if we get a favorable decision re. MacDonald v. City of Chicago then perhaps then we could roll along with that tide.

The right to keep and bear arms...  Bear covers the open carry part.  Keep is the concealed part.  I choose to keep my arms concealed under my clothing.

In AZ, you have to get a permit to carry concealed.  Or, you can skip the permit and strap your hogs leg to your thigh and walk around showing what you got.  Same in New Mexico.  First time I open carried, I have to admit feeling a little like my zipper was open.  Takes some getting used to.
“I’ve lived the literal meaning of the ‘land of the free’ and ‘home of the brave.’ It’s not corny for me. I feel it in my heart. I feel it in my chest. Even at a ball game, when someone talks during the anthem or doesn’t take off his hat, it pisses me off. I’m not one to be quiet about it, either.”  Chris Kyle

Of 'hogs legs and open zippers', I'll stay away from that line of thought...........

As to the OP, based on the words of the 2nd Amendment, I feel that if one is free of recorded felonious conviction, one should be able to exercise ones choice of carry modes, anywhere, from coast-to-coast in this country as one sees fit.

If given the free choice between the two, I choose concealed.

As permitted in my home state (with license, of course) I have the option to OC or CC, and still choose to conceal, and have for over 20 years.
"I expect perdition, I always have. I keep this building at my back, and several guns handy, in case perdition arrives in a form that's susceptible to bullets. I expect it will come in the disease form, though. I'm susceptible to diseases, and you can't shoot a damned disease." ~ Judge Roy Bean, Streets of Laredo

For the Patriots of this country, the Constitution is second only to the Bible for most. For those who love this country, but do not share my personal beliefs, it is their Bible. To them nothing comes before the Constitution of these United States of America. For this we are all labeled potential terrorists. ~ Dean Garrison

"When it comes to the enemy, just because they ain't pullin' a trigger, doesn't mean they ain't totin' ammo for those that are."~PegLeg

Scott is probably aware that in NH all you need for open carry are a holster and something to put in it.
As for nation wide concealed carry with out a permit, Not in our life times if you wait for the courts.
It would require the election of TT and I or some one like us who would do it with an executive order.
