Lawton Chiles was a very progressive/liberal governor and U.S. senator. I can not think of anything he did that is really noteworthy. And he certainly wasn't for our gun rights either....As for Crist, he's an Obama chest-bumping weasel.....
Look, I knew Lawton. He was friend of the family. Hell, he sent me birthday cards when I was a kid. The thing about Lawton was that he was like that governor in Carl Hiassen's books. He was an old school, pro-Florida, anti-development blue dog dem. You might not agree with every thing he did, but he was someone you could trust (if he said he was going to screw you over, he would

), and wasn't afraid to lose an election over principle. Right or wrong, that's a rare trait these days. He was the last governor who thought Fl. was still a southern state. As Opperator said in an earlier post, sometimes liberals come around to Constitutional principles. 7 times out of 10, the He Coon was one of them which is better than most folks (Dem or GOP) can say.
Crist? As I say, he's a good manager. What does he stand for? Let me check with a focus group. Rubio? He and the rest of the Miami Relatives can KMA. He has a lot of ideology, but precious little accomplishment, either personal or political to show for it. As far as the Dems? Hell will freeze over before I vote for Meek.
