Movie Theater "Shusher" Stabbed With Meat Thermometer

(Los Angeles, CA) -- A Los Angeles man was stabbed in the neck with a meat thermometer when he told a fellow moviegoer to "shush." It happened in an LA Cinemark 22 theater.

The victim apparently tried to stop a woman from yapping on her cell phone in the middle of a movie.

Her boyfriend reportedly didn't appreciate his girlfriend being told to shut up, KTLA reports.

He pulled out a meat thermometer and attacked.

The culprits fled the theater and remain on the loose.

The victim is recovering.

Police are continuing to look into why the attacker was packing a dangerous kitchen utensil in the first place.

Guys, this is serious and just shows that we need to control dangerous utensils. First meat thermometers, next thing is people being beaten to death with rolled up silpats, I don't even need to explain the dangers of a whisk. That Julia Childe told everyone it was ok. Now what happens when young immpressionable minds want to emulate her on the street?  I say we ban the food network, or at least put a rating on it. What happens when that scary gay Japanese guy becomes every kid's idol? Hai Cuisine! is what, and it ain't going to be pretty.

I thought the same thing.  That will protect us!!! 

Maybe they need to establish boards with rows and rows of columns and columns of things a movie house is supposed to be free of.  Maybe start with cell phones?

This is just one more item for our arsenal that proves banning any given weapon will not stop the violence.  Until someone decides to address the Real problem there is not a ban or a list of bans that will protect anyone.

Quaker has this one nailed.  Think of the dangers of illicit fork usage, or chopsticks, or (it makes me shiver and shake even to say the word) skewers.  The possibilities are truly frightening.  We should start a movement to ban all eating utensils.  It's only right.  Think of the children.

Alternatively, we might think about throwing those Chatty Kathies out of the movie theaters.

I think it all goes back to... An armed society is a polite society.

m58 is right on the money. You cant legislate people out of being violent and having no regard for human life.

I would also like to know if this movie theater was a "gun free zone". I am sure that if the people that were attacked were CWP holders they would be raising hell right now, but I would still like to know. Many movie theaters are posting signs now, and paying off-duty cops to do security because they are becoming hot beds for violence. I ran smack dab into one of those signs not too long ago at a movie theather when I was on vacation. There was a very heavy police presence, but it would not have prevented an attack such as this.... might have made it more difficult for the BG to escape, but it still probably would have happened in all the confusion.

The world aint what it used to be people.... the lesson to be learned here is "keep your mouth shut, cause it aint worth it".
