Just got back from the pistol club, spoke with the SA rep and fired both the XDm in .40 and the tactical .45  .  Sweetness!

I asked about the XDm in .45 and he confirmed a projected release 'by this summer'.  He also said the likeliness of the XDm being produced for the .357 is 'not probable'.

Safe shooting.
Anti: I think some of you gentleman would choose to apply a gun shaped remedy to any problem or potential problem that presented itself? Your reverance (sic) for firearms is maintained with an almost religious zeal. The mind boggles! it really does...

Me: Naw, we just apply a gun-shaped remedy to those extreme life threatening situations that call for it. All the less urgent problems we're willing to discuss.

That is really good news!!!

Thanks!!!

There exists a law, not written down anywhere but inborn in our hearts; a law which comes to us not by training or custom or reading but by derivation and absorption and adoption from nature itself; a law which has come to us not from theory but from practice, not by instruction but by natural intuition. I refer to the law which lays it down that, if our lives are endangered by plots or violence or armed robbers or enemies, any and every method of protecting ourselves is morally right.

Did he mention if the .45 would have a thumb safety like the M&P 45?

No mention of a thumb safety. There is only one line for the .45 under the XDm listing in their brochure, as opposed to two service listings in .45, and two for the tac length .45 XD. One with, one without a thumb safety.

Very easily removed if you don't want it.

Did this SA rep say they have fixed the slide to rear frame wear problems fixed?

Pistolgear.com has .357 SIG conversion barrels for the XDm-40.

Yep, that's probably why SA sees a production .357 as unnecessary.

I think I just soiled myself.
I love my pair of XD 45's, now they will have a new brother. Unfortunately, one of them is going to be replaced by my new XDM 45...I just don't have the heart to tell em.
