I wasn't going to reply on this but I'm soooo sick and tired of the poorest excuse of POTUS we've ever had and as for you FQ. Respectfully you can kiss my hairy butt!

PS Tom, its not "What's in it for me", its what's in it for us. Unless of course you look forward to paying for a bunch of illiterate, unskilled, AIDS ravaged Haitian refugees who have absorbed a century's worth of screwed up political values coming to our shores. Do what needs to be done to keep them in Haiti. I say I'll make a deal. We don't fly the US flag in Haiti and we never have to fly the Haitian flag here. I'm happy with that.

If Pres. BHO can't get that through his head he best start working on his resume, because this is just one more action that will be filed in the box labeled "coffin nails" concerning his political career  >:(

Plus 100  Never, in the entire history of this great nation, have we ever occupied a country once we got things calmed down.  Every country we have ever been at war with has become a friend and ally.  (With the possible exception of The South and the War of Northern Aggession--but that's a rant for another post).  When we respond to a natural disaster, we leave when the clean-up is finished--and we leave the place better-off than before we got there.  And yet somehow we've elected this carbuncle on the a$$ of democracy who feels the need to apologize for all the good my nation has accomplished.

2012 can't come soon enough to suit me.

Creusader, check your history. I love this country as much as you do, but I like to keep my eyes open when I do. Never occupied/dominated a country? Try Nicaragua, Cuba, the Phillipines and yes Haiti. Not saying we didn't do some good there, but in all cases there were a fair few locals who died trying to tell us how welcome we weren't. To me, patriotism isn't a blind love that always has to make us out as the white hats. The reason is because its like loving the pretty blond, but what happens when she gets fat? Instead I think we need to see that the US is a nation like any other that has and will act out of pure self interest. To me that's ok, that's what nations are for, its what we pay the government to do. I just get tired of the history as a morality play "patriots" who love a country that never existed and never will exist. Its like the guys who just loved the pretty blond and never learned to love the fat, guntoting, cigar smoking, but still very cool woman she became.
