So this is to brag a little and ask a question. I got a brand new Springfield GI. (I love it btw) I got it for the pure function aspect. I have 400 rounds through it and not one FTF, FTE, or any of the acronyms starting with F.
Anyway as you may know the GI 1911 comes with some really terrible sights. But I kinda am having an issue. I have wanted a GI 1911 since I first found out what that was. I would have loved a classic Colt, but getting a brand new gun with 3 mags and a good reputation for being 100% gun for under 600 bucks I cant complain.
Anyway back to the question does anyone know where I could get a set of sights that are like the GI style but a little larger. I really like the Springfield Mil-Spec sights. And was wondering what those are technically called. I dont really want a set of Novak or Heinie cause they look to modern, and that is not what I want on a my GI. The rear sights are really small with a very narrow gap and the front ramp does not stand out at all. I put on some red finger nail polish on the front sight, but will have to go back to the store to pick out a new color cause the red doesn't show up very well.
I am not as worried about the front sight cause I know with some paint I can use it just fine. Its really the damn 2mm tall rear sight. It is really difficult to line up. Not impossible and many men have used these sights to do very heroic things. But on a gun I am going to carry with me in my car and out in Eastern WA I need something I can quickly pick up with maintains the GI profile\aspect.
Well thank you and to everyone that hasn't heard from me in a while Hello, and I am doing good just real busy. You can always write me and Ill get back to you as soon as I can.
