Moving Forward ...
« on: March 22, 2010, 08:09:18 AM »
OK, yesterday is yesterday, we are all walking funny and don't know if the slimy feeling or the actual reaming feels worse, and we are full of outrage and threats.  However, we need to put these emotions aside and move on!

Many believe that this vote will set the tone and change Washington D.C. come November.  We can't get cocky and believe the work was done with their "suicide" last night.  We need to work to make sure we find quality replacements, we need to help those replacements, and we need to focus on a broad message that does not become a single issue rant.

We need to work with our chosen replacements to find the best way to undo this travesty once we get these domestic terrorists out of office.  We need to work on a plan that these people can work on that will undo years of abuses by those that were supposed to work in our best interest.

Lastly, we need to be ever vigilant for what this crew will do next!  They know that they are on the verge of getting the boot.  They can either start damage control, sell us snake oil and try to salvage their careers.  Or, they can take the path I fear - They have nothing to lose, they have the votes, so lets hammer other Rights ... Look out Second Amendment!  Which will it be?  I don't know, but you know that it will either be a nice calm feel good summer of pointing out that this passed, taxes didn't go through the roof and we still have coverage and care ... Ooooooooooooooops ... this doesn't all hammer us for a couple years  >:(  Or, we will see them playing the tough love parent and ramming crap down our throats day after day after day  >:(

I have noted another thing in recent years, and I'm not sure when it started, but it is very obvious these last several months.  As a society, Sunday has become "just another day."  We are seeing a disturbing pattern of major business being handled on Sundays in D.C.  Major debates and major votes.  What I have noticed is a shift from trying to get things wrapped up on Friday or Saturday  so it is done before Sunday or shutting down on Saturday and coming back on Monday, to things like yesterday where this Sunday vote was announced early in the week.  To me this is a combination of not only turning Sunday into just another day, but it is part of rushing things through and not giving time for representatives to take a breath and think about what they are about to do.

Good points, M58. I know that in ND, the Repubbies just anointed the Governor, a weak, wife-led RINO, to run for the Senate to try to get Conrad's (the D-coward who decided not to run again) seat, and a smarmy, venal jerk who was the majority leader in the State House, and who IIRC has prevented the State of ND from building any new office space, cuz as one of the senior Partners in a property rental firm, they make too damn much money from renting the state all the space they need. This "prince of thieves" is slated to run against Pomeroy this November.

What jokes.

We do need GOOD candidates, not just warm bodies who will be subverted the moment they walk into DC.

Sunday - you seriously think the Sunday gambits aren't a planned way for these Godless Socialists to further destroy this country's values? Thank you tho for bringing that point to the fore, it is an important one.

Nice post M58 and I agree in tone and substance. Yesterday I was pissed, today its time to get to work. I pointed it out in the American Pie thread, but I'll say it again here, this ain't over yet. The Senate can still kill this thing by having it ruled out of order. I neve thought the day would come come when I would be routing FOR Mitch McConnel, who makes Path's "Prince of Thieves" look like an amateur. Still that day is today. Call your Senator NOW!

ps As far as the Sunday thing, that wasn't so much it being another day as it was just plain grandstanding. "This is so crucial we worked through Sunday to pass it"! Pure BS, but what part of this whole fiasco hasn't been?

My advice? Have beer and relax, it probably won't happen again soon. If it does, you and Tom can form a support group. ;D

Read the Chris Cox Article in this months American Rifleman. The 40 Point plan by Mayor Bloomberg, sets initiatives to gun control that needs NO Congressional approval.

Executive orders, ATF conducts FFL audits at an exponential rate, access to FFL dealers transfers, at any time. Estate sales registered for large gun collections, NICS checks kept on file permanently.

Foreign ammo imports, (like cheap ammo?", foreign gun imports, etc,.... It's an ominous article. This initiative had to be coerced by the Freedom Of Information act, cause this admin. is SOOOOOOO transparent.

Keep your stocks up. Read more Jeff Cooper.

That is why our masters in Washington are so anxious to disarm us. They are not afraid of criminals. They are afraid of a populace which cannot be subdued by tyrants."

Excellent post and points, M58.

Planning for the future....I'm already outlining drafts for 'farewell letters' to current incumbents for next November's elections. And letters for now outlining how disappointed I am that they have chosen to so miserably fail the American public.

Also planning for letters to editors and such to keep the steam rolling up until then.

Vote 'em out, start over fresh....send a message to the new guys that we as a nation ain't gonna put up with it any longer.

For the Patriots of this country, the Constitution is second only to the Bible for most. For those who love this country, but do not share my personal beliefs, it is their Bible. To them nothing comes before the Constitution of these United States of America. For this we are all labeled potential terrorists. ~ Dean Garrison
