Having lived through it, Kent State did as Tom noted cause the establishment to waver. However, it also drove home the fact to the hippies that this was real shit happening, not a lark. Most of them backed off on the protests,............

My impression was that it was no longer fun so the rioting and desire to march waned.  At least in and around LSU in Baton Rouge and other southern schools.  There was lots of establishment talk...but on the line it was more talk than true backing off...just my impression.

Yeah...liberals would do that.  They hire people to go to the opposition rally to start crap, they hire thugs to beat citizens to keep them out of "their" candidates town meeting....and though "they say" right wing my observation is the liberal/socialist/commies are the thugs.

Being nice and looking the other way has invariably meant death to many in the opposition some years down the road....be it Asia or Europe...why not here?  If we abandon who and what we are why are we still special and immune to the same atrocities witnessed across the globe by mankind?

The Altamont concert, where the Rolling Stones were performing, was where the "Age of Aquarius" really died - along with the black guy the Hell's Angels killed. A real WTF moment there- who ever had the brilliant idea of hiring the Hell's Angels as concert security?

The Stones, were too busy dealing with travel, groupies, and being rock stars, to have a say with who was "providing" security for a local venue.

Mic Jagger even tried to stop it, once he saw what was occurring. It was a dark time throughout the country, the DNC Convention riots were another glimpse of what happened during that time. Among many others praised by the left, as social justice.

Now come full circle, and see those folks for who they were. Bill Ayers, the weather underground, bombed Police Stations, and is now held in high esteem by the left. BHO initiated his campaign from his living room..... Cass Sustien, Eric Holder, Van Jones, Saul Alinsky, Rev. Jerimiah Wright, etc,.....

and now Tea-Party folks are the bad guys, the Bible clinging, gun owning, evil Conservative is the bad guy.....

Now the left is high on their horse and wanting to re-issue a Fairness Doctrine to shut opposing points of view down..

Anyone check the pressure cooker lately????

I agree with you TW, except on one crucial point. That is this. Left or right is irrelevant. Its being young, stupid, and convinced you are right that matters. You think are as good as what you profess to believe in and if you are right, you're opponents aren't just wrong, but evil. The same with the Hippies as the Brown shirts. The Tea partiers are the same as the the Obamicans. Once there is blood in the water and power up for grabs, expect the worst from folks. That isn't politics, just an observation on human nature with a whole lot of history to back it up.
FQ13 who doesn't trust a zealot of any stripe as far as he can throw them. Now-a-days, that's not too far, which is why the Quaker carries a gun. ;D

FQ, you have a point to a degree. Except the total threats to politicians of both parties, is around 40-50....The cooky fringe from both parties have left there mark, and the media is running with it.

How many tens/hundreds of thousand, (even millions) of folks are just waiting until Nov.  CBS had 62% of this country polled going in the wrong direction.

The Tea Partiers didn;t beat anyone down like the SEIU union members did last summer, (BTW they beat a couple Black Conservatives up),.....

The Left orchestrates, the IMF, WTO professional rioters,,....haven;t seen that chapter in the Tea Party groups.

Remember the man who was found hanged with anti gov't slogans on his chest? Last Year? The MSM jumped on it as country folks dealing with it "their way".....

It was a fake and proven suicide, by a left wing wacko....

Just sayin.....The corrupt nature that has infected our gov't, won't be overturned by a "first shot" from us poor lowly citizens.

The gov't will "push" to the point of the "common man" having enough....That, is what the inside the beltway folks, scares them.

They would much rather prefer the sheeple,........

"Good intentions will always be pleaded for any assumption of power. The Constitution was made to guard the people against the dangers of good intentions. There are men in all ages who mean to govern well, but they mean to govern. They promise to be good masters, but they mean to be masters."
Daniel Webster

Yup, the looney liberal left.  They hold Bill Ayers, as you mentioned, in esteem who is a convicted terrorist and then decry peaceful protests and attempt to marginalize and derail them by calling them names and infiltrating and by sending in willing thugs and goons (SEIU, etc.).

It has been my observation that, much of the time, what a person passionately denounces in someone else is that which he does.  If the looney libs are afraid of someone wacking them then I would say that is what is in their private thoughts for us.  These are dangerous people who not only need to be voted out in November but which need to be investigated, prosecuted and imprisoned for their felonious actions.

It probably makes me a bad person, but I greatly envy the freedom enjoyed by the left in their tactics.
It may be amoral but, I think that since politics is primarily a battle for the minds of "the Masses", and the goal is the preservation of the Greatest Nation in history, then the ends, (and the stunned look on the Targets face) justify the meanness.
Am I the only one that thinks Sarah Palin, after hearing her daughter excoriated in the media should have suggested we look at Obummer's mother, not in the present, anything goes, sense, but in the context of 1961 where she was a filthy tramp. I probably would have also mentioned that his fathers fatal crash was due to being drunk, which was also how he lost his leg.
I also would have made issues of he AND Michelle being forced to give up their law licenses, and their associates, Ayers, Wright, Blagoivic, etc, "birds of a feather....."
Read more about Hitlers actual campaigns, ( NEVER FORGET, HITLER WAS ELECTED ) even the color scheme of red and black was picked with an eye to stirring deep emotions and an image of unity and unstoppable grandeur,  while with the help of the Brownshirt s, Goebbels portrayed the opposition ( accurately for the most part ) as fractured  Communist rabble rousers. This gave him both an external enemy, the "Comintern", on which to build a sense of National unity, as well as the hidden, internal threat of the "Jew", to justify tighter security regulations, and just a few  "reasonable" restrictions

Meanness?  You are being too hard on yourself, since when is it mean to tell the truth and expose the lie?  Its lunacy and foolishness at it's height to not challenge liars and thugs.  Perhaps, better stated as being scared to offend someone..

Nope...not mean, not amoral.  All that bull about moral highground which is not a true moral highground just a smokescreen to intimidate the weak minded into being accomplices in keeping the lie.  Perhaps that is a good definition of being politically correct, aiding and abetting liars and thugs by muting the truth because of the spectre of intimidation of being called close minded, intolerant or....right wing.

Not a mean bone in your body Tom, eh?

A few mean bones, I think we SHOULD use some of that thuggery and other dirty tricks.
I don't condemn Nixon for what he did, or tried to do. I blame him for getting caught.
I don't really see any difference between protecting my personal future and protecting my nations future, If biting , kicking , and eye poking are acceptable in self defense, the same methods are even more appropriate in defense of our culture.

Define "our" culture kemosabe. The point is this. No two fighters will ever agree on who should win. They can agree on the rules and breaking them has to have consequences. Throw the rule book out the window? Welcome to Congo, Haiti, Bosnia or Somalia. The last guy to run out of ammo wins and I don't really want to be goverened by Billt. ;)
