It's Bush's Fault!!!!!! All the bombing in Afghanistan. Same as the one in Haiti. Just ask the dear leader. He'll set you straight.  ;D

Glad everyone/thing is ok.

Not after it's been built, but TAB would know more about that.

I did read an article that contradicted some conventional guidelines about what to do in a quake.

It was written by a guy who has been involved in many rescue operations in the aftermath of a quake.

One point he mad is that in a school he went into after a quake, he found the kids had ducked under their desks and all were killed.

He said that the roof collapsed onto the desks crushing them to the floor with the kids underneath.

He said that between the desks in the aisle there was enough clear space for the kids to have survived.

He said don't get under something big and solid, like a workbench. bed or desk, get next to it.

He talked about how in the recent bridge collapses,  those who stayed in the cars perished while those on the roadbed next to the cars survived.

That makes sense Solus. I never thought of it that way. Not that I really have to worry about it. I only heard about 2 tremors here. I slept through one and I think I was out of country for the other.
""It may be laid down as a primary position, and the basis of our system, that every Citizen who enjoys the protection of a free Government, owes not only a proportion of his property, but even his personal services to the defence of it, and consequently that the Citizens of America (with a few legal and official exceptions) from 18 to 50 Years of Age should be borne on the Militia Rolls, provided with uniform Arms, and so far accustomed to the use of them, that the Total strength of the Country might be called forth at a Short Notice on any very interesting Emergency." - George Washington. Not really a contradiction.

The report I read was about going into collapsed structures and finding those who took cover under something sturdy died.

Both the videos assume the structure you are in will not be collapsing.  One even mentions covering your head with a bed pillow.   They assume falling pieces of plaster, ceiling tiles, lamps and other objects will be what will hit you, not collapsing structure itself.

If it were me and I was without a doubt, positive that the building would not collapse, I'd hide under something sturdy.  If I wasn't that sure, I'd curl up next to it and take the beating from the plaster.
