Netgear is usually a good choice. I've had the same Netgear G router since 2006 with only a few minor issues more the fault of our cable modem. I like the Linksys (Now Cisco) routers as well they have a reputation for being built to a more professional level but that's what Cisco is known for. I will also second the comment about Apple's networking products. They too have an excellent reputation, all be it at a higher price point. So take your pick but I think any of those will serve you well. Another one to consider would be Belkin. They use to make the best routers out there but I haven't really followed them as of late. I would say the best thing to do would be to go into a Best Buy or Radio Shack or OfficeMax and find the best deal between comparable Linksys/Netgear/Belkin in a N-series router. You won't go wrong with any of them.

Several wireless Linksys  G-routers in use for years with no problems.  This is for my business and I am very happy with the life and stability.  These are the Wireless-G 2.4 GHz broadband types.

NSpec  is very good  I would only use Apple Airport hardware for that though   Belkin  is not worth it  i have had a few issues with them

I just replaced my older, (6 years old), Netgear with another one, (N). I was having the same issues as you. I would have to unplug it, then replug it a couple times a day because it would "drop off". The new one's been running great, but the Netgear wireless adapter I got with it, that is plugged into Melanie's computer turns itself off at start up, (sometimes). I then have to unplug it, and replug it and it then works fine for as long as the computer is left on. It runs super fast. I've tried to resolve the issue with Netgear, but have had no luck. I have since found others with Windows 7 have the same unresolvable issues. It appears their drivers are not totally compatible with Windows 7.  Bill T.
