Naming Guns
« on: April 06, 2010, 06:15:37 PM »
Does anyone here name their guns?  I named my first handgun "Maggie" as it was a .357 magnum.  I also want to come up with a feminine Swedish name for my Swedish Mauser.  Any ideas for that one?

Also looking for some Patriotic or Liberty themed names for some future single actions.

Some suggestions are:
Freedom
Truth
Justice
Honor

Any ideas?

I have a simple rule for naming guns. If you hold it close to you like a rifle or shotgun when shooting it, then that firearm is a female. But handguns are male firearms since you hold them at a distance and maintain a firm grip :)

From my cold dead hands...to my next of kin to further our rights.

Never to the government. They can buy their own.

i have a strictly mechanical relationship with my guns. once you start humanizing a machine a gun it becomes more than a tool and you end up having feelings for it.

Me and the lovely Mrs. (who is always right) have named some of our handguns because it doesn't make sense to use model numbers, etc. when discussing who has "guard duty".

Her S&W 686- "Smitty"
Her S&W 60 snub- "Little Schmidt" or "Baby Smitty"
Her nickle model 19- (you guessed it) "Nicky"
Her Ruger 161- "Roogie"
Her New Blackhawk 357 - "Cowboy"
My Sig Pro 2022- "Siggy"
My Sig Revolution 1911- "Big Siggy"
My S&W M&P9 - "Mikey" (or "Mikey Bane" - long story)
I got the blues as my companion.

I have a quartet of 1911's, in .45 ACP.
They are named Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John.
When they sing, they sing gospel.
"I expect perdition, I always have. I keep this building at my back, and several guns handy, in case perdition arrives in a form that's susceptible to bullets. I expect it will come in the disease form, though. I'm susceptible to diseases, and you can't shoot a damned disease." ~ Judge Roy Bean, Streets of Laredo

For the Patriots of this country, the Constitution is second only to the Bible for most. For those who love this country, but do not share my personal beliefs, it is their Bible. To them nothing comes before the Constitution of these United States of America. For this we are all labeled potential terrorists. ~ Dean Garrison
