I think we will be seeing more getting out while the getting is good. Bart may have thought that by announcing his retirement, maybe another Democrat could spin up and win the seat he was sure to loose. If he had stuck to his guns he might, might just have eked out a win.

He gets to keep all of his unspent campaign funds now.

Not to be a cynic or anything...of course.   Why waste that money when he's going to lose anyway?  8)

Not to mention his salary in kongress as a "retirement" fund for the rest of his life, plus free healthcare (the good stuff, not the crap he voted for), and just maybe a cushy job double-dipping with a gummint job courtesy of the one, bho. Assuming bho is grateful, and is willing to show his gratitude. I wouldn't make any bets, though.

Maybe the people of Michigan will wake up and realize that all the Democrats they keep electing haven't gotten them anything but unemployment and they'll make a change we can all believe in.

Long shot I know but something has gotta give.

I used to give a big cheer when a bad congressman ran from office rather than face defeat....

Now I always think of his life time paycheck and really get hacked off about it.....

The first few times I heard mention of him, I assumed it was STUPAC, and was a Political Action Committee, not a guy.

This was the plan from the beginning. The S***heads under Pelosi's control are falling on their swords no that they have "accomplished" this unobtainable feat. The Dems knew from the beginning this was a political death sentence and that's why so many of their party started announcing they wouldn't run even before the bill was put up to a vote. The damage is done and now they are going home to sit pretty all warm and fuzzy feeling about sending us down the river with a hole in the boat the size of Obama's ego. Who wants to bet Obama comes out and makes some excuse about all of them leaving because of the danger right wing radical gun owners pose to the safety of the families of these losers like Stupac.
