Washington will spend $31,406 per household in 2010 — the highest level in American history (adjusted for inflation). It will collect $18,276 per household in taxes. I will also point out that a few days back it came out that something like 49% of households do NOT pay any taxes, so really you can probably double that $31,406 number and that is what is really pinned on those of us that actually do contribute to the treasury.

Much of the tax collected is corporate income tax.

They pay but don't count as a household.
