With it being a State Law now, the county Sheriffs have a ton of power enforcing it...and other matters in their county.

The Dems will have to try to get Illegal Immigration Rights incorporated. ...

Funny how that happens, isn't it.
Members of Congress are Committing a crime by Refusing to enforce our borders.
Mayors who declare their cities "sanctuary cities" are acting in defiance of both , Law, and the Constitution.

Very glad they did it and hopefully Colorado will follow in the footsteps of AZ & OK! Den. Mayor John Chickenpooper along with the I'm bailing out Gov. Ritter (the railroading of ICE Agent Cory Vorhees for which he was aquited) both need to go to jail for their leave the illegal aliens alone policies.

I like the spirit of this law. I love the day laborer attorney saying "its designed to make life miserable for illegals so they self-deport" as though this is a shocking and outageous concept? No Sh@t Sherlock, buy a clue. I do however have two problems with the law. The first is that it basically gives the police the right to say "Your papers please". This bugs me. There is curently no criminal  requirement to carry ID unless you are driving and I like like it this way. Secondly, it gives too much discretion to the cops. They will (quite rationally) racially profile latinos. All it will take is one latino US citizen detained for not having papers and this whole thing gets thrown out on 14th ammendment grounds.
I would propose this alternative. Everyone arrested for a crime (regardless of race) must prove that they are here legally. If not, the law should instruct judges to regard them as a flight risk and deny them bail accordingly, as well as mandating that they be handed over to ICE. That way, the criminal illegals go, and no claims of racism can be made. Secondly, use state labor laws to make it a state crime to knowingly hire an illegal. Send undercover latino officers to those day labor sites, have them tell the prospective employer they have no green card and if they are hired anyway, arrest and jail the bastard. Every polce department in the country runs these stings on liquor stores to stop them selling to minors. It works. It should work for illegals as well. Again, there is no room for charges of discrimination or racial profiling. Just a thought.

Problem with that FQ, is the Feds won't take them.
They will tell local law enforcement "Let 'em go".
That happened up here, a couple years ago.

The problem may have a solution that is simple to state but politically difficult to accomplish.

1. End the war on drugs.
2. End all welfare.

If immigrants want to come here, not for the hand outs, but for the opportunity to work hard for their families, well, that has been what this country is about.

If you worry about having your job taken by an uneducated foreigner who can barely speak English, then you need to get training.

If you worry there are not enough jobs to go around, imagine the jobs that will be created when over 50% of the tax revenue collected is returned to productive investment due to the elimination of welfare and the war on drugs.

The laws pertaining to immigration need to be reviewed, modified to reflect the current terrorist/crime world situation, and vigorously enforced.

Illegal border crossings need to be stopped.  Anyone attempting illegal entry will lose all chance at legal entry.  All illegal entrants will be sent back, alive if that is workable option at the time.

If you reduce the rewards of illegal entry while increasing the risks, you end the problem.

And this would be a bad thing  ???

In this time of high unemployment does anyone really think we need a million ... or whatever, illegal immigrants to work for us?  What we need is more job opportunities, and a change in mentality that "I need to work for my food" instead of "I'm going to sit at my computer in the A/C while someone else sweats for me."

Send 'em all home, keep the hard working legals, and learn to live like our ancestors that got us to the point we are ... or were a decade ago.

Congrats Arizona for having your cojones! This will never happen here in Maryland. Our local sheriff is in constant hot water with CASA and now the Feds (under Obama and his lame Attorney General) regarding upholding the federal laws on illegals. This is Republican country out here in western MD, but the state is dominated by Democrats. Our local sheriff gets little to no support from the state level. But let's be careful we don't go too far and create the rationale for that national ID card that Democrats crave. Makes me cringe to think I'll hear: "You haff your papers, ja?" Put an RFID on it and you are tracked everywhere! As a son of parents who emigrated to the U.S. via Ellis Island before WWI, I am a firm believer in legal immigration. I support local efforts to control what has become a national shame allowing millions to enter this country illegally. So again, Arizona, thanks for leading the effort. It indeed is about time.
