Marine Corps Candidate, Ordered To Withdraw Ad.

PC at it's finest.

http://www.idahostatesman.com/2010/04/27/1168913/marines-tell-ward-to-pull-campaign.html

Congressional candidate Vaughn Ward has violated a Pentagon directive prohibiting the impression that his campaign is supported by the military, according to the Marine Corps.

Ward is a Marine major assigned to 28 days of annual reserve duty at the Office of Legislative Affairs in Washington, D.C. Ward won a Bronze Star with Combat V for valor for leading a Marine company in Iraq from April to October 2006.

Ward and state Rep. Raul Labrador are the top candidates in the May 25 Republican primary. The winner will challenge Democratic Rep. Walt Minnick in November.

The Marine Corps wrote Ward earlier this month saying his online ad on the Drudge Report website on March 31 and April 1 violated the directive. The ad showed Ward in camouflage and body armor and said, "With Your Help I Will Vote To Repeal ObamaCare!"

Gee, there was no protests last summer with Kelly's ad:

Hmmmmm....

I love NOT being PC, but it seems for a national election, the PC Marine Brigade can restrict one, and ignore another.

After all, soldiers scare Dems....

Sorry TW, but I'm with the Marines on this. You're politics are you're business, but don't dare drag the service, which by definition and for a thousand good reasons, trys to stay apolitical. Leave the uniform at home, the Corps didn't endorse you. List your resume, but leave it at that.

Other than that I agree.  One is a Marine Reserve Officer, still held to the UCMJ and sworn to uphold the orders of the Corp and the Post Turtle.  The other is no longer a Marine, IIRC or a reservist......

Got to go with FQ and Tim.
The military forces DO NOT even give the appearance of influencing the election or defeat of people who set their budget.
It was MacArthur's political comments that led Truman to fire him.

Just seems like something "rotten in Denmark" I'm not disagreeing, just pointing out an observation of the "pictures"

I remember seeing something like this on the History Channel regarding "American Politics" and references to Grant and Ike, and their use of military service to utilize in their campaign.

The key is the fact that one is still in, as Tim points out.  Active or Reserve, you are still to follow th UCMJ 24/7/365.  Kelly's Bio says he was discharged in 04.
When seconds mean the difference between life and death, the police will be minutes away.

You are either SOLVING the problem, or you ARE the problem.

The Quaker called this one correctly (albeit with incredibly poor grammar).  If you're active or reserve, you can't sport the uniform when applying for a political position.  UCMJ is pretty clear about this.
