interesting method, never anything like it.

the results seem pretty good in comparison with the weaver stance im using.

Looks like it might work at self defense ranges.  A LASER sight seems like it would be made for this technique.

I'd be concerned about a partially concealed target or a moving target.  It appears he brought the weapon up to use the sights for aimed head shots, but still held it close.  Sort of built in weapons retention with this technique.

Seems like it would eliminate any 'arm wobble' but might sacrifice some fine accuracy, but that might not be a factor in most SD encounters.

I guess aimed shots, particularly in a hostage situation, might not fit well here.

One other thing I notices is that visibility of the target and surroundings are not blocked by arms hands and weapon.

IHMO, it is a good parlor trick, well presented, but the shooter has trained it into himself, the main point, is the pistol is already out, and you are moving in the retention position, a very close encounter from that position, it might and very well maybe a good one. The close position from the high ready, I have used and I recommend everyone try it, Jeff Cooper used it and taught it, and it works better than you think, especially as our old eyes don't work the way they used to. It surprised me how well it worked, even at 25 yards. It appears, if your range allows it, try it, develope your own opinion, I will try the retention position, no sight and see what happens. At arms length it will probably work well. Right on as far as using a laser is concerned.

After more thought another point comes to mind. 

It might be best to go to standard techniques when shooting around barriers and cover.....which is a prime objective and very likely if you are in your home or a building.

It appears very much like a retention position after coming from position SUL. No doubt the transition from point shooting to sites is quick . Like m25operator said, hes already in high ready. I suppose its a workable technique.

Hummmm...what do you know..

Just tried "the close position from high ready" while dry firing and the sight picture is MUCH easier to acquire now that 20 20 only has relevance to me when talking cheap wine....

I attended a board meething of a national LE related organization, when CAR came up.  One of the member state's representatives advised that following a demo of the system and evaluation of credentials, they decided that the training would not be used at the authorized academies and not eligible for state grant funding to hold the class.  Representatives from other states concurred.

Tthere are some adherents to the CAR system, so you might find someone who can give you a live demo.
