IHMO, it is a good parlor trick, well presented, but the shooter has trained it into himself, the main point, is the pistol is already out, and you are moving in the retention position, a very close encounter from that position, it might and very well maybe a good one. The close position from the high ready, I have used and I recommend everyone try it, Jeff Cooper used it and taught it, and it works better than you think, especially as our old eyes don't work the way they used to. It surprised me how well it worked, even at 25 yards. It appears, if your range allows it, try it, develope your own opinion, I will try the retention position, no sight and see what happens. At arms length it will probably work well. Right on as far as using a laser is concerned.
