My Wife Has Been Converted

She used to lean heavy left.  She grew up in a church that was influenced by liberal thinking, worked in private non-profit social, schools, and more private social.  Between the time with teachers and non-profit CEO's she felt she had to vote and support the left to get the funding.

Slowly that began to change when our daughter served as State Beef Queen and continued when same little girl spent some time in DC with the National Pork Producers.  The politics of anti everything food production started to open her eyes.  Soon she was paying more attention to the ideals behind liberal handouts.  Next she started to really listen to what they wanted with my guns.

I knew the move to the dark side was complete when she went to a Walz workshop yesterday.  She was personally invited as the director of a local organization.  I asked if she was excited, and it didn't take long to realize she wasn't thrilled about the whole venture.

Last evening I asked how it went ... Oooooops!  She was not happy.  I asked if it was really a workshop or just a political event.  She explained it was about grants that were available ... free gov money.  She also had to listen to Mr. Walz go on for 45 minutes about how great the Mayo's are and how fortunate we are to have them here ... Who do you suppose is financing his reelection campaign ... The Mayo's and the teachers union ... did I mention that he is a teacher?

Her main focus at the organization is to get people back on the right track.  She runs an after school project to help students learn study skills and get them back on track with their learning.  She mostly gets students that are failing in class.  Three success stories are students that were all failing math, and after eight weeks these students came in with report cards showing B+, B and a C.  Great success, and she did it by saying "let's do the work and learn" rather than cussing no child left behind and saying testing is bad ... like the failing teachers spend their time doing.  She also has a program to teach families life skills - basic living skills and family relation skills.  Her biggest issue there is dealing with about half the families that are only there for the free stuff - the handout rather than the hand up.

Any way, the wife has become a "Darth Vader" who not only asks if I have my "little friend" along when we travel, but will ask protesters where they think we should get our food from, and is willing to confront people with comments like do the work and then I'll feel sorry for you.
