The Brady Bunch Is Calling For Citizens To Contact Their Senators

The Brady Bunch has their undies in a wad again.  This time about legislation proposed to drag DC out of the dark ages of gun control.  Here's the e-mail I got from Herr Helmke yesterday:

Don't Sacrifice D.C.'s Gun Laws and Threaten Public Safety
 
Dear Brady Campaign Member,

Very soon, the U.S. Senate could consider dangerous legislation, S. 3265, that would repeal the strong gun laws in our Nation's Capital.

This will put everyone who lives or visits here — our families, and friends, as well as tourists from around the world — at great risk!

Urge them to "Oppose S. 3265 and any other attempts to repeal the gun laws in our Nation's Capital."

Please act today to help us protect public safety and homeland security.

The legislation, sponsored by Senator John McCain (R-AZ) and Senator Jon Tester (D-MT), would strip the democratically elected D.C. City Council of its authority to pass gun laws to protect its citizens. It would also repeal virtually all of D.C.'s strong gun laws.

Repealing Washington, D.C.'s court-approved gun laws would threaten the safety of residents, those who work here, and visitors from all over the world. At a time when terrorists continue to look for ways to attack our nation, this amendment would be reckless and irresponsible.

Please e-mail your Senators as soon as possible and forward this e-mail to friends. Your Senators need to hear from people who support sensible gun laws immediately!

I think we should take Herr Helmke's advice and email, write and call our Senators to let them know of our SUPPORT FOR S-3265, and all other legislation that would serve to defend the 2nd Amendment.  You know, part of that little thing called the CONSTITUTION that every one of them swore an oath to preserve, protect and defend.

Here is the email I sent to both of my Senators.  Feel free to copy and paste to your's, if you desire.

Dear Senator *******:

I am writing to strongly urge you to support S.3265 to help drag D.C. out of their current state of draconian gun control laws.  As a gun owner, NRA member, and proud supporter of the 2nd Amendment, I want to strongly urge you to support this bill.  The bill's opponents, and all those who subscribe to the "draconian guns laws = safe streets" philosophy, are either naive or in serious denial.  Statistics prove that in areas where "we the people" are allowed to exercise our 2nd Amendment rights, crime actually decreases.  It doesn't seem like rocket science that the predators in our society would prefer to ply their trade in areas where honest people are denied the ability to defend themselves and their families, but apparently some are oblivious to that which is fairly obvious to the rest of us.  After all, if stringent gun control laws were the answer to the crime problem, one should be able to expect D.C., Chicago and NYC to be among the safest places in the country.....yet they are not.  I've yet to hear an explanation from the anti's for this fact, however.

Again, please support S.3265, and all efforts to enforce the 2nd Amendment.
