trapped a big coon/ don't F with Tab...
« on: May 05, 2010, 02:43:35 AM »
So my grandparents having been having a prob with a coon in thier garbage.  I finally traped the SOB last night, By far the biggest coon I've ever seen, we wieghted it before I took it to animal control, 38 lbs.  The county animal control is about 2 miles from thier house, so I just throw it in the back of the truck and drive on over.  I get there and do to "budget cuts", they are closed monday and tuesday.  So they have this big dog park in front...  Then I remembered, the county offices are 1 block away.  So I walk into the county offices, with the coon in the trap.  its hissing, snarling and scarying the crap out of every one.

" I needed to drop this coon off accross the street, but they are closed, can I leave it here with you?"

wouldn't you know it, they got animal control agent there in less then 5 mins, with a trank and a cage.   ;D
I always break all the clay pigeons,  some times its even with lead.

Figures you'd think a drug-addled alcoholic writer who could barely get two cogent words on page would be a great American.

BTTT - I did a whole coon family, 2 young-uns and their momma, one night at a time. What's animal control? For me it was a 9mm (smallest gun I had at the time - it was that or the 7.62x51  ;D ) to the back of their heads and dump them in the tree row. Momma sounds like yours - could barely lift her to the pickup she was moving so fast and hard in the cage - she was pissed!

Australia has all sorts of creepy crawly and bitey things that can literally look at you and make you drop dead but nothing it seems as dangerous as your particular type of Coon.
Our species of coon is much more sedate and really to catch one all we do is go down to the local shopping centre and grab one, there is no need for traps, or firearms unless of course you want to have a bit of fun, nothing like scaring a bit of coon with a loaded .44 although its messy to clean up, bits go everywhere its like shooting a watermelon. They also dont grow as big as yours ours are a max of about 2.5lbs and thats a big bastard!
Pic of our coon

BTW our coon has a lots of siblings, cheddar, mozerella and jarlsberg to name a few  ;D

I have had great luck with a .22LR Colt Woodsman. I got 5 kits and a big mama out of one tree one afternoon about 20 years ago. Then for several years we trapped them and shot them. Now we just trap em and give them swimming lessons in the pond. None seem to learn very well -- could be the trap.
