Same for any whack job group, Muslm, Christian, Hare Krishna etc. You've got dumb people who are mostly followers looking for meaning. They're mad at the world and willing to listen anyone selling self esteem by telling them they are the victims of some "other". Telling them that they're special, they understand things others don't, and can change things (for only $19.95 and 70% of the gross). If I wanted to recruit for a cult it would be there and at shelters for homeless teens. In the case of radical muslims, prisons are ideal. You're not just looking for sheep, you want soldiers. Find the sheep who are violent and give them a cause, a chance for "righteous vengenance? Its like a giant Dixie Cup factory for jihadis. Indoctrinate, support, motivate. Then use once and dispose.

No, we are stupid. We know they are recruiting and where, and we allow the  use of taxpayer dollars to help. Oh, I bolded the description you supplied of the other set of people we are paying tax dollars to indoctrinate, and their means of indoctrination. K-12 students. Italics are the key phrases I hear tossed around my school system.
Anti: I think some of you gentleman would choose to apply a gun shaped remedy to any problem or potential problem that presented itself? Your reverance (sic) for firearms is maintained with an almost religious zeal. The mind boggles! it really does...

Me: Naw, we just apply a gun-shaped remedy to those extreme life threatening situations that call for it. All the less urgent problems we're willing to discuss.

Forgive me, but I feel a rant coming on............................

Why the HELL are they not taking the concerns of 9-11 victims' survivors into account on this?!?  This looks like little more than a giant "F-YOU!" to the memory of everybody who died 2 blocks away on 9/11!!!  The survivors' being offended isn't enough to keep this project from going forward, yet some effing cheesehead federal judge in a Wisconsin federal court ruled that the National Day Of Prayer is unconstitutional, in a suit brought by some atheist a-hole hell-bent on enjoying Constitutionally-protected freedom FROM religion.

And, as Paraguy pointed out, what about the kids who were sent home from school for wearing the flag of OUR country, because it "offended" somebody?  Scuse me, but if old glory offends you, y'all are in the wrong damn place, and don't let the door hit ya where the good Lord split ya as you head back across the frickin border!!  And while I still have some rant left, to those who would fly the Mexican flag above the stars and stripes outside their businesses, all I can say is F YOU!!!  Take your ass back south and leave MY country to those of us that love it!!

Ok, rant off................for now.    ::)

Nice one mate   110% agree

I am seeing all over the place turn to shit because of decisions like this   part of the PC   lets not offend in the MFW ( Modern Fagatised World)

I actually use that on a forum here in Australia  edited a little ( as they over Mod)  to get some going as there are a few that think it is a good idea

personally I am offended by it  and I can not think of anything worse to do ( well I can however not going to post them as respect for the victims and there families )
Here’s to the crazy ones. The misfits. The rebels. The troublemakers. The round pegs in the square holes. The ones who see things differently. They’re not fond of rules. And they have no respect for the status quo. You can praise them, disagree with them, quote them, disbelieve them, glorify or vilify them. The only thing you can’t do is ignore them

You do not see me going to their country and trying to build a Church of Christ in Mecca. We just use Abrams and Cobras and Apaches and 5.56 and 7.62 to send them to the 72 Virginians. Yes there ar 72 Virginians waiting for them Washington, Lee, Jackson and a few others waiting to stomp the rest of their guts out.

I like the Virginians bit. I wish you'd come up with that earlier. Instead of mocking the the 72 virgins with camels, as in the picture of a confused Abdullah arriving in hell to fnd 72 camels: well we could have had Confederate Generals with cannons and fixed bayonets smoking Camels! Welcome to Hell Ahab! And you think they get pissy about the Muhammed cartoons..... ;D

What the hell has happened to our country...

One, we began to accept Darwin's notions of evolution after his Origin of the Species in the last half of the 1800's.  It's an easy step from there to modernism.  If the Creation is not true in the Bible, then what else is not true?  This worked in concert with the Greek hellonization of modernism around 1830-1835.  By the Greek hellonization, I'm speaking of, in essence, the lack of absolute laws of morality from God to morality being based upon the notions of men.  Relative morality is when people decide what is right or not based upon their own skin, as in we can agree against murder and theft because it can hurt us personally...that's relative determination based upon an individual's notion.  True morality, I would argue, is based upon God's absolutes and I have to ask myself from time to time why I believe things are right or wrong...is it because it is of what I would like done unto me or because I recognize God's sovereignty?  There is a difference.

Our next big drop is the Supreme Court decision of 1962 (or thereabouts) when prayer and Bible reading was taken from the classroom.  From that point the stats on divorce, pregnancy, violent crime, petty crime, etc., begin to skyrocket.  It levels out, more or less, at a point after the first generation to miss prayer and Bible reading matures without the moral tools and background of previous generations.

I weep for our nation.  It was bought with a price steeped in blood by good and decent men.  Their blood cries out from the cemeteries of Normady, from Valley Forge, from the Arizona where men died clanking the walls submerged in their final resting place and so many other places across this globe and in this nation.

This was not lost in a single generation and it may not be reclaimed for several generations, if at all.
Necessity is the plea for every infringement of human freedom.
It is the argument of tyrants; it is the creed of slaves.

Give it a rest Rastus. Your self righteousness has gone too far this time. Hellanistic, as in science and reason? Modernity, as in individualism, capitalism, limited government, pluralism etc being the problem? Congratulations. You have shown your true colors. You are on the side of the jihadis. The only difference is which book you would use to oppress us. :o
Here is a clue, Christianity (at least my brand) is a marriage of Athens and Jeruselem. I'm an Anglican. We believe in the three legged stool. Scripture, reason and tradition. You? You say you must put your own common moral sense aside to follow God's soveriegnty. Question. Who exactly determines God's will? Does he email you? Are the same words you read different than the one's I do? I think not. I think you are using your own "hellenistic" judgement but don't want to admit it. God's soveriegnty yes. You claiming it requires no interpretation, not so much. It isn't just a war against terrorism Rastus, its a war of modernity against barbarism and theocracy. Pick a side, if you haven't already brother.

Try refuting the facts, rather than just substituting your own opinion in place of Rastus'. Like Rastus, I see the 60's as a threshold period for the structural deterioration of this society, although obviously the importation of the European Socialist movement in the 19th Century, FDR, the 1913 Fed decisions, et al. had much to do with it as well.

The difference is between those who read the Bible as a whole, and those (such as you) who treat it more like a menu of "options" to be followed - or not - based on your "reason". Example: Didn't the "Anglicans" elect an openly gay bishop, in direct contravention of the Bible's scriptures? The Biblical prohibitions of men lying with men, and the rules in Timothy and Titus about church leadership were just distasteful "options" based on your reason?

BTW, "reason" and tradition have brought us nearly every tyrant throughout history.

Given there are a lot of modern devout Christians, it is clearly not a case of so-called "modernity" vs. religion. It is about recognizing - and obeying - a higher power and His role in your life. You may chose not to, that is why we have "reason". But the failure to obey is on your head.

I agree that the 60's were a turning point but it was In political terms, not religious bigotry.
