Turning Airsoft AR15s into real weapons - FoxNews.com
« on: May 14, 2010, 01:44:22 PM »
Just finished reading this article.

http://www.foxnews.com/us/2010/05/06/exclusive-toy-gun-sold-easily-turned-real-thing/

Interesting.  I always thought these were realistic externally, but had no idea that the internals were that accurate.  Maybe it was first done to keep tooling costs down and the ability to reverse engineer the parts, thus less development costs.  You would think that the manufacturers would take necessary steps, just for liability purposes.  But then again, most are made outside the US.

I know I am a skeptic but

just cause they say its so don’t make it so!!!!

Political correctness is a doctrine, fostered by a delusional, illogical minority, and rapidly promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a turd by the clean end.

We can still freeze our paintballs Fullauto. ;D
FQ13 who actually did that to kill some rats in the basement when I lived in DC. Crank up the velocity, ice ball, one dead rat. Works like a charm.

Theres NO WAY it can be done. The magwell dimentions wont match, the recivers on most high end Automatic Electric Guns " A.E.G " or Gas Blowback Rifles " GBR's " are made with cheap metals. Some of the points from one of Ohio's airsoft shops are as follows
1) The original seizure was not because the lowers were in violation of NFA rules, but for their auto sears.
2) There are going to be similarities between real guns and airsoft, because they're designed to look like real guns. (common sense)
3) Those similarities don't mean that if you buy and airsoft gun, you're going to be able to use it on a real steel gun. (more common sense with some trial and error thrown in)
4) I can guarantee that if you put a WE lower onto a real upper, it will not fire a bullet. (personal knowledge of the differences between the WE lowers and my real steel lower)
5) Said upper MAY... MAY be able to be modified to shoot a real bullet for limited use before failure, but not without extreme effort to do so. (you can probably make any object fire a bullet if you try hard enough and have the equipment and knowledge to do so)
6) One guy comes out and says it IS possible, and suddenly it's the gospel of the media world. (why? Because it's a sensational story.)
7) There is a difference between fact and fiction.
heres the link to the same topic on airsoft ohio http://www.airsoftohio.com/forums/showthread.php?t=28644

And with some basic garage tools and basic hardware items I can build single shot handguns and rifles.  There is no end to what an educated public can do with anything.

They did bust a guy in England for doing that.  Those airsofts were specifically made to be REAL where it counted, and brought right through customs--no cover of darkness necessary.

Can't be done with just any airsoft.
"Why are you carrying a pistol?  Expecting trouble?"

"No Maam.  If I was expecting trouble, I'd have a rifle."

any one can build a single shot shotgun with basicly what ammounts to some gas pipe, a drill and some drill bits.

Hell you can build a black powder gun that will fire safely( once and only once) using thick walled PVC pipe.
I always break all the clay pigeons,  some times its even with lead.

I saw Captain Kirk do that with charcoal, saltpeter, sulfur, rocks, a hollow log and some hemp.

The prequel to that scene:

As to the OP, I find it kinda odd that the serial number is on an AR lower.  However, I am grateful as it makes the AR platform much more flexible.
Anti: I think some of you gentleman would choose to apply a gun shaped remedy to any problem or potential problem that presented itself? Your reverance (sic) for firearms is maintained with an almost religious zeal. The mind boggles! it really does...

Me: Naw, we just apply a gun-shaped remedy to those extreme life threatening situations that call for it. All the less urgent problems we're willing to discuss.
