NORAD dispatchedtwo F-16s from Davis-Monthan Air ForceBase in Tucson and they shadowed theultralight for about 30 minutes until it flewback into Mexico.Lt. Cmdr. Gary Ross says he was unaware ofany radio contact with the small plane.Ultralight aircraft are sometimes used tocarry drugs and other contraband across theborder.NORAD responds about 200 times a year toaircraft flying without radio contact or inrestricted airspace, but Ross says it's nottypical for the command center to intercept an ultralight.Ross could not provide further details aboutwhy F-16s were sent to intercept the aircraftSunday.
