iPad, XBoxes are "diversion"
Blogs make "craziest claims"
Put "unnecessary pressure" on US
BARACK Obama has declared war on technology and has singled out Apple's iPods, iPads and XBoxes for criticism.

The President - who is addicted to checking his Blackberry and whose election was credited in part to his skillful use of modern media - told graduates at Hampton University in Virginia that high-tech gadgets and apps were straining American democracy, the New York Post reported.

"With iPods and iPads and Xboxes and PlayStations - none of which I know how to work - information becomes a distraction, a diversion, a form of entertainment, rather than a tool of empowerment, rather than the means of emancipation," he said.

Mr Obama described the most popular offerings of companies like Apple, Sony, Microsoft and Nintendo as distractions that were putting unnecessary pressure on the country.

He also lamented the spread of social media and blogs, through which "some of the craziest claims can quickly claim traction".

"All of this is not only putting new pressures on you," he said.

"It is putting new pressures on our country and on our democracy."

"We can't stop these changes," he said, "but we can adapt to them. And education is what can allow us to do so.

"It can fortify you, as it did earlier generations, to meet the tests of your own time."

Reaction towards Mr Obama's sudden ire towards the world's most popular gadgets has ranged from bemusement to anger.

"It’s still odd coming from Obama, who is the first US president to be glued to a smartphone, to appoint a federal (Chief Information Officer), and to push the government toward cloud computing," a TechRepublic post said.

"The naming of several specific products was also odd, and probably not very wise.”

this from a Crackberry user

What he is saying in reality is that this technology is hampering his plans for communist Goverment and what they are REALLY up to, and you can see where this is leading...he is looking for an excuse to "ban" these things to try and stop their cover being blown...and the full truth being exposed!
Democracy is actually the power given to the people to elect their governments. Unless iPad is removing this by making it quicker for people to hear about his and can not control what is being published.. with the lame stream media

Here’s to the crazy ones. The misfits. The rebels. The troublemakers. The round pegs in the square holes. The ones who see things differently. They’re not fond of rules. And they have no respect for the status quo. You can praise them, disagree with them, quote them, disbelieve them, glorify or vilify them. The only thing you can’t do is ignore them

Everything I needed to learn in life I learned from Country Music.
