Woman "Glocks" Dog That Attacked Her Daughter
« on: May 19, 2010, 04:40:34 PM »
Don't mess with the mama bear! Jeff Cooper once suggested that Glock had become a verb - ie: "He Glocked him!". This lady's kid was attacked by a vicious (according to our local TV news) neighborhood dog and she Glocked it. There were more details in the TV story. Apparently, not only the Windex was used, but they'd also beat the dog with a shovel too. Tough dog. The story made my wife feel that she needed more practice, as she is also a mama bear. It's surprising that here in CA, the news stories actually mentioned Glock by name and the story wasn't about gang bangers.

I can personally attest to the fact that a pitbull will let go at least for a moment, if you put a finger up its behind. I would too.

+1 on that. As far as how you knew it, or how this was determined, presumbably by trial and error? Well, I'm not a pit bull fan, but whatever happened to to the guy that did it to him? I'm defending the dog. ;D
PS, if threatened by an animal? Damn right its the Glock. If the owner's pissed, I'll buy them a new one. Glock, endorsed by the Gunny at the NRA convention. Take that rust bucket guys! ;D ;D ;D

OC Animal Care officials said the dog was taken to a local veterinary office to be treated for a gunshot wound
Why didnt they finish the job? It also brings home the point about nothing works as well as a double tap!

snaping a fiberglass extention roller handle over a pits head does woners for getting them to let go.  Best part aboutit was, life time warrenty, took it to the paint store and got another one.  unbreakable  my a$$

Did you return the dog or the roller handle? ;D
Seriously, I am all in favor of purpose bred dogs. I own, and have owned, highly bred brittanys and pointers my whole life. Dogs designed to do one thing. Locate and point birds, every natural instinct directed to that goal. I've also lived and worked with Australian Shepards and Labs (FDSB, not AKC). The same applies. I truly respect what breeding will do. Thing is, the same is true of a pitt. It was designed (and designed well), as a fighting dog. Aggressive, determined and lethal, with a high pain threshold and without the cotrol or intelligence of a German Shepard. That wasn't required. Aggressiveness and determination were. Thing is, unless you're buddies with Michael Vick, that just isn't required anymore. Its a breed that has outlived its usefulness and the cons outweigh the pros of owning one. If you want a guard dog, buy a German or Belgian Shepard. I don't want them banned or anything, bu I do look at folks who own one a bit funny, because I don't think they understand the basic genetic make-up and instinctive urges of the breed. No wonder rappers like them, thugs to thugs, though only one is to blame. Not dissing anyone who has one named Fluffy and will tell me how great it is with the kid. True enough. Still, the default mode is aggression for these dogs, the same way chasing a tennis ball is for a lab. Own one if you want, just understand that there are other breeds that will do the same job with fewer risks.
FQ13 who will accept the flames, its just that I've handled enough working dogs to know that breeding shows. Whether you want it to or not.
PS All that breeding did not make them immune from the "Fuzzdady Ass Grip", but hey, we all have our weaknesses. ;D
