Going to Shooting Sports School

Today I am leaving for Camp School. Where I will hopefully learn how to provide a quality shooting sports program for our local Boy Scout Council. I hope to have internet access to keep everyone updated if interested.

Good for you Ranger! I donated a couple of nice single shot .22s to a local troop. It was a better feeling than any amount of money I good have gotten for them would bring. Thanks for helping keep the 2A alive.

cool. I wasn't in scouts long enough to learn to shoot there, but my dad took care of that himself when he thought I was old enough.

Certified but no longer active for BB gun and .22rf rifle for BSA, I do congratulate you, you are pointing young minds in the right direction, and sometimes their parents as well, who just might be single mothers, and I don't mean good pickings for dates, but women who don't necessarily agree with the shooting part of BSA, but are ready to be taught why it is necessary, beyond getting a badge, if you can get them on your team, your home free. I did it from the safety standpoint, and made a non firing prop rifle, out of an old air gun stock and copper tubing, it could be used to demonstrate stock weld and trigger technique, and also show the parents or guardians, the other rules we teach, like, don't touch, stop and tell and adult, I used my nephew to help me in these demo's. You can have this prop rifle for free, just PM me with an address, and once again thanks, I truly know what an hour a week means

Range Safety Officer

Basic Archery instructor with USA Archery

Now I just need time to figure out how to implement everthing.

Congratulations on all of the above, Ranger, good work!

Been to Scout summer camp many times - as an adult leader. We had a fairly good range, rifle, shotgun and archery. When the kids were gone, we had a lot of fun, especially on the shotgun range.

Question - do the Scouts do anything with pistols? They did not when I was in.

Pathfinder, OA, Woodbadge (back when it actually meant something)
