A 16 in. barreled carbine for commercial sales? Is that a potential winner?

In the configuration you mention and as a Semi auto, it is a niche rifle IHMO, I see a better version of the old M7 survival rifle with accuracy potential to 100 yds, and 90 to 120 rds available, if you just pick it up and go. I doubt the accuracy for very small game like squirrels and rabbits at 100, but definitely viable for torso shots with ease at 100, if the accuracy is 2.5 MOA. The stock could also have one section to just dump live rounds up to ??? rounds, and only a couple of magazines, and increase the potential a little.

If they made it in full auto, we could not buy it, as it is post 1986, unless you are a class 3 dealer. Would be massive fun to play with  in FA for sure.

I'd just like to see that pistol in a 22lr version. 22mag is too expensive for cheap shooting. But I want a 22lr pistol that holds more than 10 rounds for less that $400 bucks!  ??? I can't figure out why no one makes magazines for 22 pistols with more that a 10 round capacity. Most all of the good 22's on the market have room for a high capacity or even a double stack 22!  ;D

True....but a rotary-style magazine could be made that would hold 15+ rounds in the same grip size as a 9mm/.45ACP double stack mag with little to no feed problems....
Why, yes....I'm the right-wing extremist Obama warned you about... ;D

Two reasons this isn't appealing, first .22Mag is expensive compared to centerfire ammo.   Ignoring the low price anomalies, .22mag ammo runs between 20 and 30 cents a round.  So does 9mm and .223.   The latter two have the advantage of being reloadable

Secondly, the .22  "slug" is a poor design.  While it doesn't have the rebated base like the .22lr it still pretty much is only available in a round nose configuration. (hollow nose optional)  And while the same may be said of the 9mm, the .223 offers more options in bullet design to meet different objectives.

The one advantage .22Mag has is the light weight of the ammo.  If that were the over riding objective then, I'd much rather have the .17HMR over the .22Mag

YMMV
Will work for ammo

That Kel-Tec holds 30 rds...... and the gun in the OP is a full auto they put together to demonstrate that the rounds feed well.

They do just fine. The S&W M&P15-22 uses a double stack 25rd mag with out any feeding problems!
